I have a low muscled W7WMC htpc (H) that I start up to look at another W7WMC (Z) that does recording and storage on a local drive (Z\O), and has videos on another local drive (Z\M).
H is slow on start, and shows no Recorded TV (which it would get from Z\O).
I auto start WMC, and auto 'locate' to Recorded TV menu location.
I suspect it is reloading the each entire library on each startup.
Is there a better way with my setup?
(H is off for power saving, occasional use, and Z is always powered as household 'server' anyway, UPS, etc. - router and wires between them.)

Install a SSD into your HTPC (H), or all of them for that matter, if you haven't already done so.
No other upgrade will improve speed performance for WMC as much as a good solid state drive.
Recorded TV drives can be regular hard drives, since you're just accessing files, but your primary drive should be a SSD.
