EPG123 Client setup problem

#1

Post by Ray Jorgensen » Sat Jan 04, 2020 12:33 am

When I click on EPG123 client all it will do is open very quickly and then it's gone. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled - still the same problem. I downloaded and am using the latest version. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the c:\programdata\garyan2\epg123\trace.log file. The bottom entries are the latest... see if there are any [ERROR] entries. Post contents here so I can see as well, please.

Also, it does not look like you have performed a [Client Setup]. Is that true?

I keep getting kicked out - all I see is a flash of the screen - when I try to do the client setup.

Oh, sorry. I should have scrolled up further and read why you sent me the trace.log file in the first place. You have a merged channel that is kind of screwed up and the client is choking on it. I'll have to find where I need to add a catch for that to get past it.

In the mean time, let's see if WMC can clean it up for us. From a command prompt, run the below:

Code: Select all

START /WAIT C:\Windows\ehome\mcupate.exe -uf -dbgc
Wait for that to complete and try to open the client again.

I can't find a file named mcupate.exe and neither can the computer. In the - ehome - directory there is a file (application) named mcupdate.exe. I ran that and I still have the issue of the client program flashing by me on the screen.

Sorry, typo on my part.

I'll have to build something to try and get past these database merged channel errors. It might take a few. I'll send you the file or a link to download.

Sent you a PM with a link. I just put a big try/catch where I think the problem is happening. It should get you past the error and allow you to start a client setup.

Yah, it's going to create a backup folder. Close the client and copy it over the released version in c:\program files (x86)\epg123\ .Then run the client from there.

Could you send me your trace.log file again? I want to see if there is any more information on the error now. Thanks.
