No guide in WMC after clean install

#1

Post by sanjosanjo » Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:10 pm

I'm setting up EPG123 for the first time and followed the instructions for a clean install. When I finished and went into WMC there is no guide at all. How do I get the new guide to appear?

What do you mean by no guide at all? Is the guide icon not there, or do all the channels say No Data Available, or... ?

There was no guide icon. But I ran the Clent tool one more time and now it shows up. I'm not sure what I did, but everything looks good now. Sorry for the false alarm.

Not a false alarm, but need to know what happened. At the end of Step 2, when you close WMC, EPG123 is supposed to apply some registry settings to make the guide icon appear. Its' visibility is tied to whether you accepted the Program Guide Terms of Service so will be invisible until the registry is corrected. I'm not sure why that would not have worked.

Also, I put code in the client GUI to check and apply those registry settings under certain conditions, so it sounds like that is what it did.

I think it got fixed after I clicked on Match by Number in the Client Guide Tool. There weren't any channels listed on the left side, under Guide Channels with Custom Labels until I did this. Then I went back into WMC and the guide icon was there.

Okay, good. That is one of the times it will check those registry entries to make the guide show.
