WMC not finding cablecard - Comcast
Hello! I am running Windows Media Center Windows 7 64-bit with Comcast as the provider and a Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 receiver.
This setup worked great until the 2650 stopped communicating a month ago. I sent the receiver to Hauppauge for repair. The unit is back now. I can see it on the network, the cablecard is paired and authorized, and I can view channels through Windows Media Player. However, Windows Media Center can't see the Cablecard.
When I run Tasks/Settings/TV/TV Signal/Set Up TV Signal, then make my way through to configuring my signal, I choose Cable (ClearCard). WMC can see the two tuners, but the scan does not find the CableCard.
My version of WMC is 6.1.7601.17514. I am running an Intel i3-4160 processor.

Have you investigated any playready issues? If you can play the channels through other programs but WMC doesn't see them that would be one potential issue. Do a few searches around the forums to see if you can figure something out.

Thanks for your quick response. I declined the PlayReady agreement, since I'm using EPG123, but you're right that it could still be causing problems. I just tried repairing .NET Framework, but that didn't help. Have also tried unchecking WMC, restarting, checking WMC again, and restarting again, but that didn't work, either.

Playready is NEEDED for cablecard discovery.

Sorry, I meant that I declined the Rovi EPG. I don't get a PlayReady message until the end. Nothing I've seen seems to apply for PlayReady, but I'll try the Setup DRM link.

I deleted the mspr file in the PlayReady folder. At that point, I got the Update PlayReady link in Windows Media Center, which updated PlayReady just fine. Didn't resolve my issue, though.

I assume you don't have any protected recordings, correct? I think it takes a little bit more than just deleting that one file to completely reinstall DRM. See here viewtopic.php?t=3760 Believe it or not, as long as you have your cablecard paired you are probably through the hardest part. I'm assuming throughout all of this that there aren't any protected recordings that used your old playready key.

Yes, no protected recordings. Went through the resetdrm steps, but it didn't help. I'm not getting any PlayReady errors or warnings. One clue is that I can no longer see my cablecard receiver in the network tab on Windows Explorer and wmc no longer sees the cablecard setup in the Setup TV Signals process. Starting to get BSOD crashes, which is a rarity on my htpc.

Alright. I have a few more ideas I'll share within the next few days but the BSOD makes me wonder if you need to reinstall windows.

Oh yes. I even uninstalled and reinstalled DCA and ran it. It ran fine. Thanks for the DRM setup info -- wish it had been the solution. I really don't want to get the x1 DVR, since I really like having all my recordings in one place and under my control. My OTA recordings work just fine in wmc.

viewtopic.php?f=97&t=11609. Look through that thread. From my newer posts, you should find instructions to run ocur discovery from the command line. If that doesn't work, see my info about activating wmc ocur where I reference a thread on the siliconddust dust forums

Hello! The discovery hints worked. I ran the 6to4 adapter remover zip file to get rid of extra adapters, then did the netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Network Discovery" command set to yes to get the discovery to work. I spent so much time in Network and Sharing Center, but that didn't solve my issue. Anyway, my month of struggling is over. Thanks to all for your assistance.
