Mixed results in Florida. One system using OTA apparently did auto-update during night. However, it only extended through 8AM on 26th. 12 hours isn't much progress.

Other systems using Comcast cable remain unchanged, with no data past 8PM on 25th. Attempts to manually update all systems this AM have made no progress.

Just did a successful manual update here, Seattle OTA, data through October 5.

I big shout out to all the forum members who got involved to bring this to Microsoft's attention.

Some thoughts: As a software developer, I think MS is afraid to touch WMC source code because of the possibility of introducing new bugs to a "fully" working product. Programmers get re-assigned to different projects, and going back to something they haven't worked on for years is bound to cause breaking changes. The TV guide issues are done by a separate piece of software that converts Rovi data to their own format, which seems easy that a student could do it. Usually such tasks are assigned to low level programmers. I think that MS would fix this issue once and for all in the next few weeks or months at most. I don't believe they are going to discontinue the guide now. I think they have a deal with Rovi, so they are already paying for it anyway. What's relevant is the terms of that deal. Whether it's for 10 years or one year, or renewable ever year, etc. I don't know. I hope that someone contacts Microsoft or Rovi and fills us in on the details.

Also here in Arroyo Grande CA (Spectrum) the manual update worked. I also was prompted this morning that there was only 3 days left in the guide, which was weird as I updated till Oct 4th last night. Updating again this morning did not add any additional days.

Same here on Long Island with Altice Optimum.

But we should keep an eye on it because Oct 4 is fewer than two weeks away, so the guide data is already short... and of course this is as the fall TV season is starting.

I've seen that delayed warning in the past, where the guide was getting down to only a few days and then it was updated to a full guide and then some time later got that warning. I doesn't seem to be anything to worry about, just a strange bug.

Hmm, my son did the manual thing and he thought we had the guide for at least 10 days. I just looked and we do have the guide for "local" channels through October 5 - 7:00 pm CT. There is no data available for all other channels (Bravo, HGTV, Discovery, etc., etc.) beginning on Monday, Sept. 25 - 7:00 pm CT. He ran another manual thing - still nothing but "local" channels. Any ideas?

Actually, the 9/22 update was a duplicate of the 9/21 update (first new one after the outage). The 9/23 update was new. Let's see what happens with today's update...

I know it's not going to work because the guide update comes back in 15 seconds with OK.

I tried "C:\Windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -manual -nogc -p" yesterday, no obvious effect.

I've got local broadcast channels but no cable channels. Is there anything I've missed??

That same thing was happening to me last week on Suddenlink in Louisiana, amid the guide outage. Local channels were being updated but not cable. I used Sean's WMC Backup tool to backup my series recording settings; did an mcupdate -MediaCenterRecoveryTask; set up my tuners again; and restored my series recording settings. As described in this post. This worked well. I did an image backup of the hard drive before trying this.
