Some showings missing episode name, causing extra recordings

#1

Post by farside847 » Sat Sep 26, 2015 3:20 am

Since the Rovi switch over, I have noticed some strange behavior.

I have a few series recordings scheduled to record new episodes only. But, I am noticing that there are episodes that do not have an episode name that are also being recorded as new when they are actually re-runs. The new episodes have the episode name like normal.

For Example, I have "Big Bang Theory" set to record all new episodes on TBS. The new episode recorded perfectly and includes the episode name. But an hour later a rerun aired that did not have the episode name in the EPG and it was recorded too. I have noticed this for a few shows, like "Big Bang Theory", "Last Week Tonight", plus some kids shows like "Caillou" and "Curious George".

I am guessing this is an error with the guide data. Is there anything I can do to try and correct?

Thanks!

Isn't every episode of Big Bang Theory considered a rerun on TBS?

It is possible, but the problem is that these episodes are being recorded when they should not be. There can be 5 episodes playing back to back, all of them with title data except one, and it will be recorded erroneously. Is there anything I can do to try and correct?

I think that until the new guide data from Rovi is improved, your only option is to do time-based recordings instead of title-based recordings.

Please post your issue at the https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback

I suspect it's already been posted there, but... squeaky wheel might be the best way.
