Horizontal lines on live TV
Hey all,
I've been trying to figure this out and changing settings in the CCC but no luck yet. On my rebuilt W7 64bit HTPC I'm getting horizontal lines when watching live tv. Not every station does this and it seems to happen during fast motion or action shots.

Any ideas?

The pictures "look like" you are not subscribed to HD. No HD service with your package is likely not the problem. Your description (fast moving scenes) sounds like a condition called COMBING.
I'm running a 6670 with plain jane drivers, no catalyst or hydro installed. version 8.850 from 2011. These drivers (for me) have been flawless for 3 years.
I believe that your issue is with the video card drivers or the settings in CCC or maybe both. A few guys here have reduced or eliminated display problems by disabling "AMD Steady Video" and "Enforce Smooth Video Playback" Also, adjusting or disabling "Dynamic Contrast" has worked for others. You might also have some (signal issues).
Probably the best thing to do would be to tell us what card you are using and which version of drivers is installed.
My display problems and their corrections are documented in this post...

have a quick glance through there, you might see something useful.
Oh yeah, and BTW the upload attachment button is right here.

I am subscribed to the channels I'm watching. The signal should be fine too since everything was working fine before upgrading to W7 64bit.
Ceton driver: 1.0.2.4
Catalyst Driver: 13.1
I tried to disable steady video but it made every channel worse. Enforce steady video playback is already enabled. Dynamic contrast is already disabled.

Interlacing problem?
Press 411 info on the remote for each live channel that does it to see what the source resolution is.

I see interlaced says false and anything to do with resolution says 1920x1080

Sorry I should have explained - there are a few pages of info:
Press the right button until it won't move any more.
Look at Native Size
Back arrow to get out of info mode.

So they are all 1080i source channels.
As a test see what happens if you get the option and are able to set WMC TV output to 1080i/60 instead of 1080p/60.
Also just to confirm, always setup as a Television not Flat Panel for 1:1 pixel mapping. The Flat Panel setting uses overscan and crops the picture.

The htpc output was set to 1080i, I switched it to 1080p and it SEEMS to have resolved the issue. I only got to watch about an hour of tv last night so that wasn't a great test.
