Some Dish Questions

#1

I know the Dish Hopper/Joey has a method to transfer shows to iPAD for viewing elsewhere. I am wondering what the quality is and also wondering if there is a way to atomate that transfer and then convert to a format that media center can use. I am thinking about alternatives to cablevision.

I also see Dish Anywhere has many live and on demand options. I was wondering how quickly shows are posted on demand after they air and the quality of the files. I am wondering if PlayOn's PlayLater software could also be set up to download these on demand shows and drop then into media center.

It might be worth dropping CableVision and going with a single Hopper with the 2 year price lock for $49.95/month and pair this up with an OTA setup on media center.

I made the switch. My Cable price is increasing this month and I keep getting low signal problems or subscription required on channels that I am paying for (most likely also a signal strength issue). Anyway, the Dish system has a horrible interface but is still much better than Cablevisions IO DVR. The video quality seems better on Media center and you cant beat the media center remote layout. It is going to take some getting used to.

I am keeping media center and have added two HDHomeRun OTA Tuners as I do plan to switch back to cable after my 2 year contract. Hopefully I will qualify for a promotional package by that time or maybe IPTV will be good enough to just drop cable and satellite carriers altogether.
