Guide only lasts 2 weeks

#1

Post by costaudjoe » Sat May 23, 2015 2:53 pm

After I set up TV signal WMC7 downloads the guide for two weeks. During those two weeks, I get headend id errors. The only workaround solution is to run TV signal again in order to get the guide to fill up again.

This is less than ideal. How is it possible that during TV Signal set up it can download the guide but fails every time after?

I am not crazy about setting up TV Signal every two weeks.

Help!

What are you running for Antivirus and Firewall? You might need to add a rule to allow Guide Updates to get through.

I just have Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall is turned off. I even tried setting up the Windows computer as DMZ and it still wouldn't work.

I read somewhere else on the forum that changing the zip code can help. I put a new one and will test it out and report back.

Thanks!

What kind of tuner are you using? Do you also use a TA? CableCard? OTA?

I have two tuners: Hauppauge Colossal and Hauppauge 2250. The Colossal and one of the tuners on the 2250 hook up to a Dish receiver. The other tuner on the 2250 is connected to an OTA antenna.

I'm not sure how much help I will be, as I have no direct experience with Dish or OTA. Maybe I could just help identify the problem.

1- I assume that the Dish/OTA systems are working correctly, meaning that you can watch and record either one using WMC.
2- When you run Tuner Setup from within WMC the Channel Lists from both sides A and B display correctly.
3- Where the problem starts is that the guide will not continue to refresh past 2 weeks, this requires you to have to setup the tuners manually, again and again.

From this side of the fence, it looks like a Guide Problem.

Interesting diagram. However it goes like this:

Dish Tuner 1 ========= Colossus
Dish Tuner 2 ========= 2250 Tuner B
OTA =================2250 Tuner A

All three tuners going into WMC. I got an error message while trying to download the guide today... I am good for two weeks and then I have to set up TV signal again.

This pic might get a rise out of somebody.....

I'm not sure how to explain it, cause I have never had to do it, but I think you might need to "edit your sources" or "map your channels". to get the Guide to work properly. Edit Sources can be found by opening up the guide in WMC, right click a show available now, scroll down to "edit sources" I don't know how to map channels.
