Is there a way to verify that Away Mode is working?
Is there a way to verify that Away Mode is working? I suspect that it is not, but I'm not sure how I can verify.

Not sure I understand the question so this answer may not be what you are looking for but:- Watch a TV program, hit the record button, then hit the standby button, the video and sound output should stop (TV/monitor screen will go blank) but the HTPC should continue to stay awake until the recording is complete at which point it will go to sleep. Basically it will save some power and or disturbance in the case of an unattended recording. That is how it should work.
