As I drop the volume, sound stays the same till it goes to zero, then it is off.
I use spdif as the playback default not speakers in sound settings.

Is there another sound setting to make for WMC?

I want to be able to control the level. The level change works on youtube.

You are bitstreaming the audio from your PC to your AVR/TV. Bitstreams have no volume. They are either on or off. You can change the volume on the AVR or TV, but If you want to change the volume with the PC, you'll need to disable bitstreaming. As a consequence, you'll lose the ability to transmit encoded audio formats such as Dolby Digital or DTS. If you want to disable bitstreaming, open the Sound applet in Control Panel. Locate the S/PDIF output you are using, right click on it, and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the two boxes in the Exclusive Mode section.

Thanks, I managed to use a GE universal remote to turn on the Sony receiver and adjust the sound level.
Which will work for me.
