[SOLVED] Echo stuck at connecting

#1

Post by gyrene2083 » Mon Sep 23, 2013 1:17 pm

Hello All,

I have had an echo extender working fine for months now, and all of a sudden it's just stuck at connecting screen. I removed the power cord to reboot it. I rebooted the HTPC and WMC, and no matter what I have done it still is stuck at Connecting.
Now I read some threads where you have to take your laptop and run something, but you need to send your Mac address first. So, being that I didn't want to hijack a thread I created a new one, and hopefully someone can help this old Marine out.

Thanks Crash2009,

I rebooted the router and my cable modem, and I'm still stuck on that screen. Any other ideas?

Sounds like router to me. Check DHCP settings. Could be cabeling too.

I don't believe it's the router, and I say this because I attached an xbox and set it up as an extender to the same cable in that room, and it works fine, and I checked the DHCP and it's running fine, I even tried a static address on the ceton, and it's stuck on the DHCP address....

*Belay that last comment, it just took the static ip address, but still stuck on connecting screen.

If your getting an IP now, check your HTPC, extender settings, then setup Echo again.

That did it. I removed the extender, and added it again. Not sure why that was the case, but now my son has TV in his room, and the world is good again. lol Thanks a lot Crash2009 for all your help.
