Unable to Play Analog Channels

#1

Post by USCMitch » Sat Aug 17, 2013 5:05 pm

Greetings all-

I recently switched to WMC from XBMC due to the poor PVR support on XBMC.

Everything is running fine, except I cannot play any analog channels via WMC. QAM channels play but analog channels do not.

System is running Windows 8 with a Hauppauge 2250. If I use the Hauppauge WinTV 7 application, then all channels (including analog) play. But in WMC, when I attempt to tune to an analog channel I get a blue screen and static audio.

I did have to manually add all analog channels to WMC.

I've been unable to even identify the cause.

Anyone have any insight to this issue?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what the problem is, but I was wondering what Channels you are still getting as Analog? Do you know if your provider is planning to phase them out?

Have you gone to the Hauppauge support site and downloaded the drivers for Media Center? There are two sets of drivers... one for Windows and one for Media Center. You need the one for Media Center. Click the link below, it will take you directly to the "Windows Media Center" tab on their drivers/support page.

Of course, your problem may be the fact that you're running Windows 8. Hauppauge doesn't list any support for Windows 8 with the WinTV-HVR-2250 tuner card. I don't know if that card works with Media Center in Win8.

Here's the link:

Oh, and did you follow these instructions (also found on Hauppauge's support site)?
Note to Media Center users:
If you want to use WinTV-HVR-2250 to watch and record analog cable TV with Microsoft's Media Center application under Windows XP or Windows Vista, do the following:
When you run Media Center, go to Tasks / Settings / TV / Set Up TV signal
At 'Set Up your TV signal', click Next
At "Regional settings', make sure your region is correct and click Next
At 'Download TV options', click Next.
At "TV Signal', click 'I will configure my TV signal manually' and click Next
You will then see: Cable / Satellite / Antenna. Chose the source of your TV signal (Cable for use with analog cable TV) and click Next.
Click through the rest of the settings, set up your Guide listings and click Finish. Then return to the main menu.
Go to TV + Movies and then live TV to watch and record TV.
