WMC Crashing After Win7->Win8 Upgrade When Launch LiveTV Cfg
I had a perfectly normal working system under Win7. I did an upgrade to Win8 Pro in order to maintain my Recorded TV.
After the upgrade to Win8 Pro, I entered my key to add on WMC and activated it.
After that, I uninstalled the Ceton drivers, and installed the Win8 Ceton Beta drivers.
When I look in the Ceton Diag program, everything is green.
When I run the DCA in WMC it says everything is good and ready.
WMC needs the TV tuner setup now. It did not carry over during the update.
Whenever I try to configure LiveTV or the TV Signal, WMC crashes and restarts.
I tried uninstalling the Ceton drivers and reinstalling. Doesn't fix it.
I tried updating the InfiniTV card to the latest Beta firmware. Doesn't fix it.
Everything else in WMC works just fine.
I can stream movies from my WHS with no issues.
I can playback my Recorded TV with no issues.
Thoughts? No TV in the House now!...

Does the Event Viewer give any indication of what is causing the crash?

Another clue is that if I uninstall the Ceton drivers, WMC doesn't crash when I try to configure LiveTV (or go through Setup TV Signal).
It simply tells me that there's no tuners available, as I would expect.
I also tried using the current non beta Win7 drivers as some have done to get network tuner sharing working, and that didn't help either.

As far as I can tell, this is part of ffdshow - I don't think it's part of a standard Windows install.fx45guy wrote: Faulting module name: ff_acm.acm, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x4e95244b

This post doesn't describe exactly the same thing you're seeing, but a similar crash that occurs when certain system sounds were triggered, and ff_acm.cam was called to process them - changing the sound profile to Windows Default fixed the problem in that case - it's worth a try (right-click on the desktop and select Personalize, I think).

Thanks for the tip. I forgot I still had Shark007 Win7 codecs installed. I uninstalled them, and everything was fine. I then put the Shark007 Win8 codecs on and it was still OK.
Cased closed. Happy camper now.
