HDMI green screen - HDMI handshake ?

#1

Post by olds403 » Thu Dec 06, 2012 2:32 am

Noticed when I leave me echo on and turn off my tv and then turn back on the tv I get a green screen. I can still see video and sound, but have to reboot the echo to fix it. My xbox does not do this on my tv. Anyone seen this yet ? Panasonic tc-46g10.

Does toggling inputs fix the handshake issue? I used to have issues with my HTPC all the time and then i fixed it by programming my harmony to flip inputs back and forth. Then I got a new tv and the issue went away.

+1 I also see the same thing after turning the tv off (I thought it was the fact I left the echo on overnight). I will try toggling the inputs on the tv to see if that fixes it.

Nothing between the echo and the tv, direct hdmi connection. The tv is a panasonic th-50pz80u.

Motz,

I might be having the same problem. It's not that it's a green screen; it's that the blue background is now green, and that the thumbnails are negative colors. The type is perfectly clear and readable.

This is new since the 1202 firmware update.

That is a better description, basically it is like the red and blue portion of the signal are gone and just the green remains. I can still see the screen and navigate the menus and watch tv, it is just green :D

So we have a new beta firmware out: 2012.1206.xxxx it should fix up most of these issues.

I recommend NOT unplugging the echo constantly seeing just changing inputs should fix it up in the older firmware :)

This is a personal recommendation as usually unplugging thing unless they are completely frozen is a bad idea IMO.

"Green screen" issue still present for me in current beta firmware.

That is, I updated the unit, it restarted, I started watching a recording, I paused the recording, I turned the TV off. Powered on 15 seconds later, and the paused picture was there--all green and magenta.

To add fuel to the fire, it wouldn't continue playing the show. So when I went back to the recorded TV listings and tried to do something else, the Echo hung with the spinning circle.

I turned it off and plugged my XBox back in, and am awaiting the next firmware update.

*shouldn't* be a network problem; hardwired with fresh cables a year ago, and I don't see that at all with the XBox.

But who knows.

adam you are on 2012.1206.xxxx? I know it was fixed for a lot of people in the ceton forums with this update. If it is still going in this build we enabled a lot of additional logging. Can you go into the settings plugin, submit a diagnostics and post the reference number here for me and I will have them look at it.

Yes, I'm on the beta firmware. In fact, this was my first test after installing it.

Diagnostics sent. 90:00:aa

The 1206 fixed the green screen issue. Now the ticket stutters on fw 1206...ugh
