Tranquil Media Center (IXL) Crashes

#1

Post by spwatson » Thu Oct 18, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi all, I hope that you can help me.

My Tranquil Media center keeps crashing to a black screen and an 'insert boot disk and press any key' message. The only solution is to press the power button and restart the whole system. System boots into Window and Media Center starts up OK, after some time (unpredictable) the system then crashes as described. I did think that the CPU was overheating but core temp does not indicate any issues there.

System spec:
Motherboard: Intel® Desktop Board DH57JG
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz
Memory: 2 x 2Gb DDR3 Corsair
Boot disk: OCZ Onyz 64Gb SATA SSD
1 x 500Gb 2.5 SATA hard disk
Blu Ray: Slimtype BD E DL4ETS
TV Card: BlackGold BG3595 DVB-S/S2
150Mbps Wireless 802.11b/g/n Nano USB Adapter

I really hope you can help as I am at almost at the end of my tether.

Best regards,
Simon

Have you contacted Tranquil support? http://tranquilpc-support.co.uk/

There may be a communication problem between your hard drive and the sata controller. One of the two may be failing. You should also install HDSentinel to check the health of the drive --> http://www.hdsentinel.com

Also, check to see if the firmware of your SSD is up to date. The latest is v1.7 --> http://www.ocztechnology.com/ssd_tools/OCZ_Onyx_/

Thanks Scallica for the reply, unfortunately the systems health took a turn for the worse and I had to rebuild the whole thing. Windows 7 and other diagnostic programs completely refused to recognise the SSD and in the end I just removed it and clean installed to the SATA hard disk. I have not had any problems with crashes or hangs since the rebuild but it is early days yet. Its likely that I will flash the SSD to 1.7 (although its 1.6 at the moment) and reuse it somewhere. Thank you again.

Ive have similar issues with OCZ, now I only use Intel SSD's without any problems. I too use Tranquil and by looking at your setup, overheating shouldnt be an issue.
