DVB Logic Advice Please

#1

Post by Doddsie » Wed Jul 11, 2012 7:33 am

Hi All

Bit of advice needed please...

Lounge 1 = My main Media centre all TV recordings are made on this machine with TBS Dual DVBS2, Dual Blackgold DVBT2 and Single Hauppauge DVBS2 all live and work happily...

Lounge 2 = Media centre with shared ability to watch recorded TV.

Question is would like to have tuner capabilities in Lounge 2, reluctant to install hardware (ariel wiring issues), would DVB Logic be able to supply tuners WITHOUT upsetting the setup of Lounge 1?

Thanks

Doddsie

i was going to reply to this last night but it seemed the post had been deleted?

any, yes. dvblink connect server plus tv source for the pc with the tuners, network pack for the one without. only problem is recordings take place on the pc where they are scheduled so you may want to look at the remote potato shared guide to mitigate this

Xbox extender in lounge 2?

I have two extenders and love the functionality.

What limited functionality? Plays all my movies, all my videos, and all my tv (recorded and live).

I can't think of anything more i could get directly from the pc.

Crazy?

the guy said he already has 2 htpc's.

you are recommending he goes out and buys a new xbox to replace the second PC, which will give him reduced functionality over where he is now

thats crazy

Thanks aeblank for the "heads up" and I do use Xbox's for bedrooms. But in the 2 lounge areas the HTPC experience is non comparable to xbox as I am fortunate enough to have SSD in both, as well as losing them into loft spaces making the rooms "peaceful". Also both machines are set up with different "Themes (media browser etc)" and "Plugin lists".

I now have DVBLogic installed and configured tuners and set up network distribution. This looks like the answer I wanted....thanks. Im in the UK what is the most reliable EPG (A straw poll really) I have tested EIT, WMC and xml.

Cheers

most reliable? it comes at a cost but imo its worth it as without a reliable EPG you may as well forget the whole thing.

anyway the answer is Digiguide plus which you can download to an xml using a very smart little program called DG2XML and then load using DVBLink. i actually use another tool called BSEPG because it still has some advantages over DVBLink epg loader

DVBLogic has a nice add-on for DigiGuide. ;)

should come here and update that since updating dvblink to 4.5 it trashes how BSEPG works so i have ended up using the DVBLink add-in which as .Nico says is nice. there is still a gap in functionality with BS EPG which i am trying to get filled, but its good to be able to eliminate another 3rd p bit of software
