Media center airplay
I just set up Airplay using thishttp://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/index. ... ia-center/ setup. It is working fine for pictures but I cannot seem to get any videos to show the airplay icon be it from YouTube, Facebook, or other video sources. Any ideas? I was thinking it is possible since it recommends using apple bonjour print services it may be only compatable with pictures because it sees them as printable. Is there another bonjour service that accepts videos. Thanks in advance for any ideas. My setup is a Iphone 4s running ios5 and win7 64

Interesting. Never heard of "air play".
Is there an Android equivalent for Media Center?

There is a similar post around here somewhere. I had the version mentioned in the above linked article by thomaspleasnce (SP) and it worked a treat before iOS5. Since then I had purchased aerodrom in efforts to gain the functionality back. It works although you have to select 'aerodrom' from your MC menu to use the feature. Prior to iOS5 with the mentioned prior plugin there was no need to 'open' the plugin, I would simply select my MC to "airplay" to and it would just launch on the screen. That was much more ideal as I tend to use the feature whimsically so grabbing the MC remote whenever I choose to "airplay" something is kind of hokey in my opinion... but aerodrom does work for what it's worth.

Thank you for all your replies. It looks like the the problem I am having is related to the Ios5 upgrade. I guess I will hope for Mr Pleasence to upgrade the air play plugin.

I know this is an old thread, but I've only recently tried getting this to work and I had the same issues with iOS 5 so I decided to try and sort it out. I have a fix for it, so I'm trying to get in contact with the developer for him to update the app (or give me the source code to update). Annoyingly it's only a one line change, so I can't really be bothered to write the whole thing from scratch for it, though if I can't contact him then I'll probably end up doing it.
I know $10 for Aerodrom is a lot cheaper than me spending a couple of evenings and high stress levels, but it's the principal of it!!
I'll keep you posted with what happens

It doesnt work, period. ( for video that is. )bobbob wrote:does it work? it doesn't get great reviews. for $10Cafe.Racer wrote:I use Aerodrom with good results.
Audio works flawlessly but you can get that for free with shairport ( and with less lag )
Video on other hand just does not work. I've got Fresh Windows7x64SP1 install with nothing other than DVBlink and iTunes installed (no firewall or virus scanner etc ) and I've tried IMDB, Apple trailers, Plex and youTube.
If I'm lucky I can get one video from IMDB to play ( i'd say 1 out of 5 attempts ) but to get anything else to play afterwards I have to restart the Aerodrom service and MCE.
I've got AirServer for Mac and that works at least with 99% apps with same iPad and iPhone ( and actually same PC as my Windows7 machine is MacPro via native Bootcamp)

I had a first gen and now third gen iPad. I can throw youtube at my MC and any other on-line video so far. It does crash from time to time though but tends to succeed on the second attempt.

EDIT
Doh I thought we were talking about this http://www.airserverapp.com/ we are not, sorry.
However I really really love this app. It even does full screen mirroring of the iPad / iPhone. Only issue I have had so far is a dshow unsupported format error when trying to airplay some vimeo content.
I thoroughly recommend AirPlay

Any way, trying to use AIRPLAY with all the restrictions that can be imposed, can be extremely difficult. There is much experiment guessing to trial. Even on a jailbroken IOS device the apps possibly required are
XCON to prevent app from detecting jailbreak
UNRESTRICTPREMIUM to open apps to use AIRPLAY
Etc.
And even if you install these apps the authors will not be responsive to technical support questions. So it's real wild west, buyer beware, trial by fire experiments. You might be tossing away money.
Recently added DISPLAYOUT to try and send content via a video cable, while using BTSTACK MOUSE to remotely control everything with a mouse. Only works with some apps. DRM restrictions are very cumbersome and aggressive.

AirServer works the best so far. (very stable)
http://www.airserverapp.com/
I had to program an ALT + F4 key on my harmony remote to exit Media Center or you can't see it though. (Microsoft takes over video)
Here's another one but I find it crashes alot.

The thing is they have a fun Parrot app to mirror your Windows laptop to the TV though.

guess i might have to use HIPPOREMOTE to program an ALT + f4 on my iphone to serve as a remote in control of my HTPC, to get an exit from windows taking charge of the video.
more complexity in order to make AIRSERVER work. should expect this i suppose, as this is an experimental hobby mostly.

Now testing XBMC with AIRPLAY working great. Will have to try the AIRSERVER application mention in this thread. The AERODROM application latest version still fails.
