Which HDMI Splitter?

#1

Post by spinnaker » Sun May 13, 2012 8:15 pm

My HTPC is in my livingroom. I want to run a HDMI cable upstairs to my office. The run will be between 20 and 30 feet. I see that there are passive HDMI splitters that do not need to be plugged into power and there are splitter amps. Considering the 30ft run, will I need an active splitter amp? Or can I get away with the passive splitter?

I think powered splitters produce the best results. I recommend this one:

I am using that monoprice splitter listed above, and it works well. Just be aware that if you have two different resolution TVs or one 3d and one not. most splitters will default to the lower resolution. They work best when both monitors have identical specs
