Swapped motherboard - tuners stopped working

#1

Post by brantmacga » Sat Apr 21, 2012 10:07 pm

i replaced my mobo to get a higher memory capacity; now two HVR-1600's stopped working. They show up in device manager.

when i try to tune a channel, i get the 'viewing conflict'; no tuner available to satisfy this request.

i re-installed drivers from hauppauge's website, still no luck.

no other hardware was changed other than mobo and ram.

any suggestions?

Can you define 'replaced my mobo'.
I presume you reinstalled Windows from scratch?

Nope. Just replaced the board and RAM, plugged everything back in. Everything is working fine except these tuners.

Yeah it's best to start again with a motherboard change. There are ways to clear the HAL and force a rebuild of hardware but it's never guaranteed to be 100% stable.

Have you tried re-running the tuner setup wizard in WMC?

Sorry I assumed you had already done that. It is still advisable to install a fresh windows for any motherboard (of a different type) replacement.

thanks for the advice; i'm going to let this thing ride as-is since everything is now working properly. last thing i want to do is burn a weekend reinstalling programs, trying to set everything back exactly as it was.

i just needed more ram for my 775 system; ddr2 is insanely expensive compared to ddr3; it was $70 cheaper to get a new motherboard and ddr3 ram than to get ddr2 of the same capacity.
