All programs showing no data available in WMC

#1

Post by allanpcat » Thu Jan 11, 2024 12:33 pm

I'm having problems getting the WMC EPG to populate with program information. All stations state 'no data available'. Requesting an update appears to run as normal but produces the same result.

I've got the latest version of EPG123 and a current subscription.

The latest few lines of the log files follow.

I don't think you are actually downloading any data. It only takes 6 seconds to import the MXF file and only 10 seconds to perform a database indexing (which is really short). What does the log say for when you are creating the mxf file?

Thanks for your reply Gary, but I'm afraid I don't understand it. I've used EPG123 for years with very few problems and I've never knowingly imported an MXF file. Dosn't this log show it has been imported by the program itself?

[10/01/2024 16:06:01] Entering ImportMxfFile() for file "C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf".
[10/01/2024 16:06:07] [ INFO] Successfully imported .mxf file into Media Center database. Exit code: 0
[10/01/2024 16:06:07] Exiting ImportMxfFile(). SUCCESS.

The programmes I want data for are ticked in EPG123. Saving and executing seems to run correctly, but still no data showing in the WMC EPG.

It's OK now Gary. I had a fiddle around in the client program and managed to get the programme guide to download. Something about automatch and match by number did the trick. I don't recall using them in the past but I may have forgotten as I've not had to fiddle with the program for a long time.

Allan

I wish I knew what "fiddle around with the client" meant. I'm having a similar problem.

You've posted on 2 dissimilar issues saying your problem is similar. If you provide more information about your specific issue it would be easier to help out. Log file entries can also help out a great bit.

I don't know if this is the best place to post what I think is similar to the problems above. But I tried to log in to Schedules Direct with my account to renew my subscription when my program data wasn't updating. I had to search for them online to give my account info and pay the new higher fee. I was prompted to choose a new lineup which I did for multiple guides in the area using a couple of different zip codes. After adding 4 lineups it still was asking me to add a lineup, (apparently needed to get SD channels along with the standard ones). Which I choose digital as well as digital rebuilt for. (the same lineups that I've used in the past). I finally hit there problem with lineup button and was told that to keep the Gracenote version that I had been using, I needed to disable a network adapter of i-6 and revert to i-4 ( which I don't know how to do) or could possibly update the EPG to 1.7 version. I still have an older 1.3.4 which at one point when problems were occurring was told there was no need to upgrade it,so I never did. I see that a 1.8.1 version is available, but with Windows 10/11 in the bar above it, I'm still using 7 on this PC. I don't want to lose access to WMC as I can still chose a channel and watch what's currently playing and view recordings. But I still can't log into my account in EPG where I could likely change the download time to get everything back in order. I don't know if I'm being overly paranoid, but don't want to go past the point of no return! I've looked for someone posting a problem close to this, but couldn't find anything closer. Thanks for any input from anyone who faced the same dilemma.

Not sure what you are looking at. If you go to Gary's download page here:https://garyan2.github.io/download.html
You should see that all versions are for any of win 7/8/8.1/10

Also If you are having problems with the EPG123 guide and you don't understand what the EPG123 log file is telling you then you should post the pertinent part of your log and someone here will likely be able to help.
And of course if you are worried about upgrading EPG123 and breaking something. Image your system disk first with the backup tool of your choice so that you can restore it if something gets messed up.

Thanks for the response! And, no I didn't look at a separate "How To" page. I only saw a breif outline on the download page which mentions removing the existing EPG program and shows the Windows 10/11 that I mentioned. I don't know if the Macrium Reflect software that I've always used for backup's, and Clones works anymore. That is whithout buying a paid version that might be per PC or if it's still as good as it used to be. That's a good idea to have a backup which I should be doing periodically anyway on all my PC's. I don't know if a restore point would be enough of a safety net. I'll have to look into that tomorrow. Thanks again! I'll let you know how it turned out.

Hi StuartM, I followed that link that you supplied and it states right on it that Windows 7 and other versions were compatable. FYI, I knew that my subscription had expired by checking the log file. I did still have a couple weeks of info showing in the guide, but knew I had to renew the subscription. After doing so, I couldn't log in on the EPG program in WMC and was unsure about the Windows versions as I remember many people trying to get it to work on Windows 10 a couple of years ago whithout a satisfactory result! I thought maybe they have finally got it working well enough, which I haven't really been following in some time.
So after doing an image backup, I was able to download the set up file as suggested in that link and it seems to be working fine now. It allowed me to log in and the lineup that I had been using was already there with the correct channels deselcted.
Now if I can just get my Logitech remote to control WMC again, (a problem I had before this), I won't have to use the keyboard to control it. I even bought a new IR receiver when the original one didn't show any response light even after trying other USB ports! Thats a different problem for another time!
Thanks, again! I'll be sending Gary a donation.
