Give the pre-release version 1.8.2.3 a try to see if that solves your issues. If it doesn't work, could you post the server.log file contents? http://localhost:9009/server.log

It was worth a try. Your exception message is slightly different than another user. Do you have a proxy or webserver on your machine? This really looks like all http calls to the local service is being forced to use https which my service does not support.

no proxy or webserver.
the only ref to https I know of is in firefox...and that isn't relevant??

I don't think that's relevant. I had another thought that maybe you have another program that is listening on port 9009 preventing the service from using it. I'm trying to research now how to detect if that is the case.

EDIT: Never mind on that train of thought. The port number is only related to listening ports and you are getting the exception on the server trying to contact SD.
