Program guide is missing many channels

Recently, my guide listing has been missing many channels. Channels 3 through 10 and 33 through 106 are missing.

I deleted the cache and ran "Save & Execute" from the EPG configuration tool. That did not fix it.

I checked with Schedules Direct and they confirmed that the lineup was correct, that all the channels were there on the server. I Looked at my EPG123 logs and there were no errors. I looked at the epg123.mxf file and the <channel> elements for all the missing channels were there. I looked at another installation of WMC on another computer, and all the channels were shown in the guide (there were no missing channels.)

I tried manually loading the epg123.mxf, but that did not solve the problem (loadmxf -v -i C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf). Using EPG123Client, I rebuilt the WMC database. Then, I used the EPG Configuration Tool to do "Save & Execute." Still no fix.

I am at a loss. I'm thinking that I need to remove and re-install WMC. But, before I do that, does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

The only thing that I see that looks wrong is in Task Scheduler. The PvrScheduleTask Last Run Result is "Class not registered (0x80040154)".

So the channels are in the client (both right and left sides) but not shown in WMC. Do you mean the channel doesn't exist, or it just doesn't have guide listings?

The channel "exists". That is, it is being sent to me by my cable company (Cox), and I can tune the channel in the HDHomerun app. But, the channel does not appear in the guide listings, and therefore, I can't tune to that channel in WMC. I can't tune to that channel by typing it's number, either.

However, the missing channels do NOT appear on the left side of the client. I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. They DO appear on the right side.

Click the Undelete channels button to see if they are there. If so, you can undelete them and will then have to map the guide listings to them again.

It is to the right of the scanned sources pulldown. You may have to expand your window to see it, or click the down arrow to reveal it. It is the blue back arrow right next to the green plus sign.

There were several channels listed in the "Undelete Scanned Channels" window, but none was a missing channel. Nevertheless, I selected them all and pressed "Undelete". The channels are still missing from the scanned sources list.

Oh! I was "clicking around" in the client, and clicked "Match by Number". Suddenly all the missing channels appeared in the scanned sources list. I updated the guide listings (Save & Execute in EPG123) but channels are still missing in the guide.

That doesn't make sense. The channels had to have existed on the left side in order for the Match by: [# Number] to map the guide listings to them. The client doesn't automatically create tuner channels.

So now you are saying the channels (or most of them?) are present on the left side, with guide listings mapped to them but you still don't see them in WMC?

Could you make a backup of the database in the client and send the resulting zip file to support@garyan2.net? I'll take a look.

This might sound silly, but it has happened in the past to some folks. Do you have your guide filtered in WMC to only show channels in specific categories? If so, that is probably why you can't see these channels. Make sure you select category 'All' to verify if WMC has those channels available.

Not as silly as I thought. When I restored your backup on my machine, your filter was set to MAIN which doesn't show channels 2 - 10 and probably more.

So it sounds like those channels that disappeared changed their station IDs which made them "disappear" from the guide since it also sounds like you don't have automatch enabled. Clicking the Match by [# Number] button mapped the "new" stations to the tuner channels, but since the station ID is different it is not included in your favorite lineup MAIN and is not visible when your guide is filtered.

Just add those channels to your favorite lineup and you should be good.
