WMC button on remote no longer starts WMC after update

I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to the latest 21h1 -

I have an HP IR media center remote - It works with MC running, but I can no longer trigger MC to start when it's not.

Anyone know of a fix?

Did you have to reinstall WMC after the upgrade?

If so, have you rebooted the PC since reinstalling WMC?

There should be a shortcut that starts ehtray.exe in the common startup folder.

If it isn't there, you can reinstall it using these instructions:

Code: Select all

1/ Go to the c:\windows\ehome directory, right click on ehtray.exe and select 'copy'
2/ Go to your desktop, right click and select 'paste as shortcut'
3/ Right click on the shortcut and select 'properties'
4/ Add /surviveehschedtermination command line switch in the target box, so that it reads C:\Windows\ehome\ehtray.exe /surviveehschedtermination
5/ Hold down Windows key + r and in the run box type 'Shell:common startup'
6/ Drag your shortcut from the desktop into the startup folder that appears.
The remote should start WMC next time you reboot.
