Add Second HDHR Prime

#1

Post by wilme2 » Fri Dec 04, 2020 10:27 pm

If I am adding three more tuners via a second HDHR Prime, do I still have to go do a clean install? Before EPG-123 I had to do the full TV setup anytime I altered tuners, and so that path would take me a few HOURS, mostly eliminating the cable channels I don't want in my guide and combining cable and OTA local channels. Note I also have 4 OTA tuners via the new HDHR Quattro 4K.

No need to do a clean install. You just need to do a TV Setup in WMC to add the new tuners. You will need to open the Tweak WMC and click the [Increase] button to make sure when you do it will allow more than 4 tuners for you primes.

Once you complete the TV Setup, just open the client and click the Match by: [# Number] button for both your cable and your OTA lineups.

I need to clarify after reading your post better. You will have to pretty much do the same as you did before. If you unselected the channels to download that you don't want in the configuration GUI the job will be bit easier. You will still have to manually merge channels like you did before.

Maybe I've been with EPG123 for too long but I don't remember having to do anything with EPG123 merger-wise when adding in another Prime. If I'm reading him the OP right, he has 4 OTA tuners and 1 HDHR Prime (3 cable tuners) to start out for a total of 7 tuners. So, with the additional new HDHR Prime that brings it up to 10 tuners and beyond the WMC "4 of each type" rule for tuners thus the need for TunerSalad or Tweak WMC.
I just so happen to have 10 tuners as well with WMC. Two Primes and two HDHR Connects. I also have 1 Prime which I use separately with Emby. With regards to WMC all I ever did was just do the Tuner setup. Easiest thing in the world (once you get past your cable company activating your cablecard). As I said, I don't remember making any changes to EPG123 when I added an additional Prime or when I removed one when I took it away from WMC for use with Emby.

you will need to run HomeRun settings again so it can refresh WMC
and run TunerSalad available from here http://www.mychannellogos.com/tunersalad-dl
or
use the tweaker in E0G123 Client to increase the number of tuners WMC will see
then
fall on your knees, place your hands together and start praying

Right now I have the unwanted channels deselected in the EPG client. Sounds like I ought to deselect them on the EPG server? That makes sense -
