Is it possible to get the seasonNumber and episodeNumber into the recording file metadata and/or filename?

You can get it in the filename if you enable 'Prefix episode title with season and episode numbers' in the configuration GUI and use Tweak WMC from the client to include %Et in the filename pattern.

You can get it in the wtv metadata program description if you enable 'Prefix episode desc with season and episode numbers' and/or 'Append episode desc with season and episode numbers'.

Neither of these are retroactive so what you want will only be from this point forward.

I'm pretty sure that .wtv and DVR-MS files already have the Season/Episode metadata built into them from WMC. To edit the metadata of a .wtv or DVR-MS file you need a program called Toub's Edit DVR-MS Metadata.

I guess I can't do an attachment here so you have to get it from viewtopic.php?t=12327
Be sure to get the EditDvrmsMetadata121.zip version a little lower down in the thread.

I also like Toub's metadata reader. Hopefully this link works to get it... https://vap.videoredo.net/ToubMetaReader.zip I haven't used the link in a while.

Anyway to have Windows Explorer display it?

Yeah I can see and edit them right from Windows Explorer on W7. I'm not 100% sure what is handling that though as it's not default Windows behavior and I've had the capability so long idr exactly what provides it now. Probably because I've got this utility called Icaros installed and enabled for wtv.
