Is your screen 16x9 or 4x3?

I am so sorry if this is the case, but it just popped into my head this morning. I think I recall seeing in the resource file that the timespan is limited to 2 hours if not in widescreen format. I'm trying to find that entry again to verify. Also, a simple thing we never tried was to change the timespan to less than 2 hours to see if it changes.
Hmm... a couple hours sleep does do the body good.

The working pc is a 1920x1080 TV. The pc with the problem is a multi-screen pc with 1280x1024 monitors. I tried changing size of WMC window and also maximized. The wmc window contents scale as I increase and decrease window size, but the guide never goes over the original 120 minute time span. I dragged the WMC window from monitor to monitor but no change in guide. I can make the window so small the guide looks like a thumbnail but the rows and columns never change. On the working pc I can make the WMC window any size I want and the guide always shows the increased time span, etc.

Here is the entry in the resource file EPG.MCML
EPG123 only modifies the value for the widescreen condition, it leaves the default alone.
Try running ehshell with the widescreen switch. " ehshell.exe /widescreen " See if you can see the longer timespan with that.
Code: Select all
<Condition Source="[Environment.IsWidescreen]" SourceValue="true" Target="[Table.VisibleColumnCapacity]" Value="120"/>
<Default Target="[Table.VisibleColumnCapacity]" Value="90"/>
Try running ehshell with the widescreen switch. " ehshell.exe /widescreen " See if you can see the longer timespan with that.

If you run ehshell.exe with the /widescreen switch, windowed, and the timespan works, then I suppose the registry mod might work? I've never run WMC on a dual monitor system.

I remember making a conscious decision to leave the default alone when I was doing the tweak form, but I can't remember the reasoning. I can easily change the default at the same time to avoid this confusion ever again.
Again, I am sorry. I should have remembered this and not wasted all this time looking elsewhere.

Gary, no need to apologize, it's impossible to keep track of everything. And yes, sleep can be amazing! I'm not sure exactly what I want. Now that I have widescreen I've forgotten how WMC looked like 10 min ago. I guess I'd like the option to keep WMC in any format I'd like with the guide showing 240 minutes.

Is there a no widescreen switch? I'm stuck in widescreen and want to go back for testing.

My goodness, Google knows all, if you know how to ask. Ctrl + drag on WMC window edge will change from 16:9 to 4:3 and back, and so does the guide time span. And WMC remembers the last aspect ratio.

Nice, but did the screen look like it had a 4:3 ratio (black bars on the sides) when it was having the issue? That would have been a clue as to why it was happening.
Before I noticed there was a whole second page to this thread (this forum doesn't make it obvious) I was about to ask you to post a picture of what the screen looks like, that probably would have gotten us to the same conclusion as Gary's revealing rest.

Yes black bars, on top, side, or both, depends on WMC screen mode and if source is 4:3 or 16:9. I've got many screens on this pc and when I'm doing real work WMC window can be very small. But now with Ctrl and drag I can make it whatever I want. Even full screen 16:9 I if want to watch some good TV.
Guide time span is not a life changing issue, but it's annoying when something doesn't work they way it's supposed to. Really appreciate the TGB help.

Before Gary starts to crank out new versions, I'm very happy with the way it is now. You go 16:9, you get guide with 240 minutes. 4:3, 120 minutes but a big guide grid easier to see. Excellent.

Which is probably why I left the default of 90 minutes alone. I think what I will do is scale the default to be 3/4 of the tweak setting. I think visually that would be good.
