I imported your mxf file without issue, so there is nothing wrong with it. It will sit at 99-100% for a while because I have the matchname populated. I'll probably take that out since I doesn't do any good for the CC channels. Works perfect for OTA channels though.

You can try again, or start from scratch again. I don't know if previous attempts with the debug versions may have had any side effects.

I never tried the debug version you sent me offline yesterday. I've only ever tried using v1.3.3.20 (2x yesterday) and v1.3.3.30.zip (1x today).

Today, I did a WIndows uninstall of yesterday's v1.3.3.20, installed v1.3.3.30 from scratch and tried using the GUI first. I got the same ""There was an error importing the MXF file" popup as before, so I ran the manual command line:

C:\Windows\ehome\loadmxf.exe -i C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf

v1.3.3.30 ran to 99% (v1.3.3.20 only ran to 92%), but it still aborted with the same error as with v1.3.3.20:

Loading...99%Error: The following error was encountered while processing the file. Aborting.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The only other possible bit of pertinent info - I recover my listing to WMC (3x yesterday) from the backup that you do at the beginning of the routine. So that we could watch a show last eve.

I got a manual import to work from the GUI after I did a restore to get the channels to show up in the left pane (the manual import button was greyed out until I did that). Then, just to be sure, I hit the "Match by #" button. I'm not sure if that was how it was supposed to work, but it looks like I'm in business now! Thanks again so much for the help!

Ahh, so when you were doing the import before, you didn't have any tuners set up? If that is the case, then it will definitely not work. Tuner channels, left side, must be there for a guide import to work.

If you go through the Client Setup, once it is complete then for HDHomeRun CC users, it will be necessary to click the Match by: [# Number] button. For OTA users that won't be necessary.

That's right. They went away when I performed step 1 of the Client Setup in the GUI, after the automatic database backup occurred at the very beginning. I effectively set them back up by restoring without updating the program guide from WMC. I may need to fix something else later, but I think I understand what's going on better now so I can address, if needed. I may be OK, though, because when I look at "About Guide Listings" now, I see dates out 2 weeks on the Spectrum & OTA entries, along with your EPG123 info. This is awesome!

Sounds like you are still getting MS/Rovi guide as well since you did the restore. To go full-on HDHR2MXF, you need to do the [Client Setup] Steps 1 - 3. For step 3, it will execute hdhr2mxf.exe for your guide instead of epg123.exe if you installed the server part as well. Basically, hdhr2mxf.exe takes place of epg123.exe for creating the mxf file.

Has anyone tried HDHR2MXF with both an HDHR3-CC and a HDHR5-2US or HDHR5-4US ATSC tuner? Will the guide have both the cable card and OTA channels?
Currently, I have an HDHR3-CC and an old AverMedia tuner. All my HDHR3-CC channels have guide data, but the AverMedia OTA channels have "No data available".

If I upgraded the AverMedia to an HDHR5-2US I would gain another tuner, have DVR service for it, and... possibly gain guide data?

I'm listening in on this one for verification, but yes... you will also get the OTA guide listings as well as the CC listings from SiliconDust. HDHR2MXF will even make 2 lineups to separate them:

EPG123 HDHR-CC to MXF Converter
EPG123 HDHR-US to MXF Converter

I really would like to hear verification, though.

Was just reviewing the scheduler logs and saw this. Didn't seem to affect anything, the scheduler completed without error.

Code: Select all

Your task is setup to run epg123.exe and not hdhr2mxf.exe. You will need to delete your current task, click the textbox right below the task status which should say "No task is scheduled to run", and select the hdhr2mxf.exe. Once that is done, create your task again.

Got it! My other machine was setup properly, probably because I didn't install the server on it. Its logs were clean.

Um... dude your awesome.
i was a little worried about messing up my wmc setup. I followed your steps, then saw your video for the silicondust dvr users.

I did the server/client install but didnt realize i did not need the server since i have the silicon dust dvr.

I see success and have my task created.
Are you taking any donations?

Scratch that... I did a rescan on my hdhome run.. no change in channels.
then I re-ran the epg123 client and refresh lineup. oddly it doesnt show the 5.3 channel. on the right side. just the 5.3 on the left without a check box.
i then refreshed again and click click I have no idea , all of a sudden it now shows up 5.3 KCTVDT3 properly on both sides. It also is showing up in the guide.

net-net I am very happy with your work. I followed the tweak and that also updated in the WMC guide.
thanks again. Happy New Year

Thanks. There are donation links on the Download and Install pages of the website (http://epg123.garyan2.net).

Sounds like your channel 5.3 might have a NZ or AU station identifier. SiliconDust is aware and are looking into it... at least I hope they are. I've let it sit a few days with the holidays and all. Your 5.3 has slice guide data, though, right? Just no guide data with the hdhr2mxf download?

Weird that it wouldn't download 5.3 the first couple times. Good it is working now, though. Happy New Year to everyone!
