EPG123 config warning

#1

Post by sierra » Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:24 am

Happy New Year to you, Mr. Gary and all.

I've joined the club in using your wonderful EPG123 program and SD data.
After working to set it up most of the day today, I finally have my WMC Guide populated on Win 10.

I have some questions.

I received a warning while messing around in the Scheduled Task area on the Config program.
I'll include a photo so you can see what it stated.

So, do I need to set up a scheduled task?
Since I got my guide populated while I did a manual import, will I need to do that every few days or so?
And, regarding recordings, do I need to do any more settings in EPG123, or can I keep all recordings and settings in WMC like before?

Thank you!

The warning you are getting is you have 2 different epg123 programs going on. It looks like when you created the scheduled task, you were running epg123 out of the c:\epg123_v1.3.4.0 folder. The program you opened to get this message was from your install location in the C:\Program Files (x86)\epg123 folder. So it is important to understand that right now, your task will run the epg123 in the first folder and use the epg123.cfg configuration file from that folder and not any configuration file in the C:\programdata\garyan2\epg123 folder.

I suggest you delete the current task, and create a new one while running the epg123.exe file from the c:\program files (x86)\epg123 folder. Verify your configuration is correct (channels selected for download, customizations,...).

With a proper scheduled task, it will update your guide daily. You won't have to do anything more unless there is an issue.

Not sure what you mean by recordings and settings. Your past recordings are fine, nothing to do. Your current recording requests should be okay, but verify the channels assigned to them makes sense and are correct (if you use any channel, then not an issue). Any recording request that got transferred with the Transfer Tool is a valid request.

Sounds good, I'll get to work at correcting those settings.
