I'm just trying to understand all of the various options.
I understand that HDHR2MXF is most useful if you have a paid DVR subscription with SiliconDust, but will it work without one - providing much less data (24 hours vs 14 days, if I understand correctly)? If so, how do the results compare to what one would get with something that grabs the PSIP data like EPG Collector?
Does HDHR2MXF require the DVR service (free or paid) or will it work with older devices that are not supported by the DVR service? I have an older HDHomeRun Dual HDHR3-US.
Thanks.

The 24-hour guide (JSON) worked just as well as the 14-day (XMLTV) variant, but SiliconDust asked us not to use the JSON version and informed us it would probably become unavailable in the near future. The story is back in October? a developer for a Kodi plugin added the ability to get the JSON 24-hour guide which you think would be okay, except that of the 14 million JSON requests to SiliconDust servers that month, something like 12.5 million were from his plugin (evidently a lot of Kodi/HDHR users). The good news, rather than SiliconDust shutting everything down, they offered something better even though it would require a DVR Service subscription for $35/year. Because SiliconDust requested us not to use the JSON method, which was designed for their hardware and plugins, I disabled that method in my code.
@StinkyImp would know better about using EPG Collector and using the PSIP data, but from what I hear it is pretty limited. I have yet to try it in earnest... there is a slight learning curve to get it to work.
I believe the HDHR3 works with the DVR Service... I'll have to check. Need to blow off the dust and plug it back in.

So AFAIK, no DVR Service for me. Let me know if that's not correct.
