EPG123 and WMC 7. I cant install it on 2 comps

#1

Hi. I successfully installed EPG123/schedulesdirect to one machine, but when I try to install it to a second machine it shows no data avail no matter what I do. On the 1st comp I installed it on it seems to work perfectly, but on the 2nd comp I will go through the processes, but it will not show the "rebuilding index" windows. Instantly shows finished and no guide at all, and in epg123 client it goes from showing all of the channels to blank channels when process is finished. What am I doing wrong? I will note that on this 2nd comp the guide would often suddenly not update anymore through MS epg server (has done it for months) and the only way I could make it work again was to shut down mce services and goto C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome and delete db file and re-setup. Im not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I guess my big question is am I allowed to use this on more than one machine, even if they are connected to the same router/cablecard device.

I just did it on a 3rd win7 pro comp (laptop) and it says no data avail.

Could you send the C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\trace.log file to support@garyan2.net? What rebuilding index window?

EDIT: Removed quote of post #1

From your trace.log file:

Code: Select all

[12/30/2019 10:40:37 AM] [ INFO] Successfully retrieved the station mapping for lineup USA-GA66147-X.
[12/30/2019 10:40:37 AM] [ INFO] Subscribed lineup USA-GA66147-X has been EXCLUDED from download and processing.
[12/30/2019 10:40:37 AM] [ERROR] There are 0 stations queued for download from 1 subscribed lineups. Exiting.
[12/30/2019 10:40:37 AM] [ERROR] Check that lineups are 'INCLUDED' and stations are selected in the EPG123 GUI.
[12/30/2019 10:40:37 AM] [ERROR] Failed to create MXF file. Exiting.
You need to INCLUDE the lineup. When you close the EPG123 configuration GUI, it would have given you a warning that you were going to download 0 channels. Open the configuration GUI and change the red bubble on your lineup tab to green.

Funny thing is I dont remember including them all on the 1st setup, I thought they were already included because I saw them listed in the client during installation. My age is catching up with me. Thank you so much for what you do. It is greatly appreciated!

What you saw is how it works. If in the configuration GUI, you ADD the lineup, I will automatically INCLUDE the lineup for you based on the assumption that you want that lineup on that computer.

When you go to a different computer, the lineup is already part of your membership account and I don't know if you want to use that lineup on that computer so I leave it EXCLUDED. An example of this scenario would be if your first computer is connected to cable and the second is OTA; or first is a summer home and second is a winter home. That is why I added the prompt to point it out since it happens a lot.

As far as having multiple computers with a "Full" setup (both server and client), you need to make sure the update times are staggered. If they are scheduled to update at the same time, the last computer to actually start will be the only one to complete successfully. Schedules Direct only allows 1 active token at a time. A preferred method would be to only have 1 computer create the MXF file and then share that file with the rest.
