v1.3.2 Release

#1

Post by garyan2 » Fri Dec 20, 2019 9:11 am

This incorporates all the changes from 1.3.1.10, 1.3.1.20, and 1.3.1.30 as well as fixes an issue with HDHR2MXF XMLTV. Good improvements around the client setup. The biggest improvement, in my opinion, is that if you click a button with a shield on it that needs elevated permissions, EPG123 will now restart the form as administrator AND execute the action. This includes creating and deleting tasks which seems to throw everyone for a loop.

I'm done. Next on my list is to create a webpage on the usage of HDHR2MXF with EPG123 and as a standalone.

Gary, if are open for a new suggestion. How about a raspberry Pi version of epg123 -server only? It can run 24/7 consume low power and keep all my future clients in the household happy!

I'm really hoping for a stand-alone Android app for my phone or tablet!

Gary,
Thanks again. Fantastic effort and now EPG works well at providing HDhomerun schedule into WMC with my HDhomerun Prime. Sadly, the process somehow destroyed Playready and I can no longer watch the cable channels. Just goes into endless Playready update loop problem. Reinstalling V1.3 of Playready does not see to help. :(

Not unrecoverable. I've never seen a pattern to when WMC decides PlayReady needs to be updated or reinstalled.. with or without EPG123. I'm not in a place right now to search, but maybe some others can help while I'm "away."

I don't think you want to install v1.3. Just a guess on my part since haven't really been able to get much stick time on this issue. Try the older PlayReady here. See if that works. You may need to uninstall your current PlayReady.

Fixed it!
DRM reset procedure, remove and reinstall hdhomerun, remove epg123 and reinitialize WMC, then install V1.32 rerun epg123 client setup, and all is well! You have made a fine tool and hopefully MS won't mess it up. Merry Christmas! Ben

Still not fully understanding how the server, the client and the hdhr2xmf fully integrate together. Are all three needed for the HDhomerun provided EPG?

Gary,
First I want to say thank you for all your efforts.

I downloaded v1.3.2.0 and was doing a initial install on a Win7 machine and it seemed like everything worked perfect until I got to the Transfer Recording and it could not find the backup. I looked in the folder and there was no backup file. Luckily, I had written down all the shows and was able to go in an manually enter the shows that currently have episodes in the guide and will have to add the others once the series starts again and shows up in the guide again. I was not watching every second during the backup phase but did not get any error messages and it proceeded to Step 2 so I moved on in the installation. I don't know if others have had this trouble or not but wanted to mention it.

I had done a previous (test) install on a different Win 7 machine with v.1.3.0 and the transfer seemed to work fine. Hope this helps and again, thank you for all your efforts.

Thanks,
John

Hdhr2mxf takes place of the server part (epg123.exe) so you dont need that if you plan on using SiliconDust for guide data.

The server part just creates the MXF file which contains all the lineup information and guide listings. The client part imports that file into WMC and handles all the mapping and some tricks to make sure you can see the guide.

Could you post the contents of your trace.log file during the setup? There is some logic to not create a backup if there are no merged channels (left side) if I remember correctly.

EPG123 did not create a backup because it didn't think you had anything to backup. If there are no channels in the left side list view, there are no merged channels, and it thinks WMC isn't setup. This is my bad when I added the ability to automatically execute a task with elevated privilege.

TO ALL: Do NOT perform a Client Setup unless you perform a manual [Backup] first. I'll get a new release out soon.

Just released v1.3.2.10 to patch that oversight. I am truly sorry to everyone that may have done a [Client Setup] when not elevated (run as administrator). This would have caused a backup to not have been created and loss of your recording requests if you didn't already have a backup. The bug was introduced in v1.3.1.10 on 15 December 2019.

Again, sorry if you were impacted by this.

I upgraded to v1.3.2 earlier tonight. Does this issue affect a straight upgrade or only if you perform a certain action; new setup?

It is only an issue if you click the [Client Setup] button to do a clean start while the session is not elevated/run as administrator. Basically, you would click the [Client Setup] button, the form would reload as administrator, skip the backup and go straight to deleting the ehome database files and folders. The biggest risk is to those just moving over to EPG123... I don't know how many that may be in the last 5 days, but 1 is more than enough.

Gary.... Thank you for figuring this out so quickly. It really wasn't that bad and gave me a chance to clean out multiple series that have been cancelled but we're still in my list. :-)
