patrick0525 wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2019 3:01 pm Gary, it is resolved and I see TV station logos! Thank you very much. I did a [Remove] and did another [Save & Execute]. It worked using a non-VPN connection.
After, I did the [Remove] and before doing a [Save & Execute], i did look at ProgramData's logos and sdlogos directory. Nothing seemed to be removed. I am not sure why.
The [Remove] button doesn't delete the files, it just removes the file links and images from the WMC database. On the other side, disabling the 'Include station logos' doesn't delete the files either, it just tells EPG123 to not include the logos in the guide listings file for import and therefor not add it to the WMC database.

I asked DirectSchedule whether they are blocking my VPN provider: windscribe. This is the response.

"OK, I've checked and there's nothing on our configuration that would be blocking that specific IP address, so it's something between your VPN provider and AWS."

Thinking about it further, it may be that WMC itself can't handle the VPN. Its' download method is basically that of a very old browser and may not support all the latest protocols. I know for a fact it doesn't handle TLS 1.2. Maybe that is where the problem is.

I would argue it isn't between your VPN and AWS since you are still able to download the listings data and create the MXF file.

You could run an experiment:
Open the C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\guideImages.xml. Use any of the http links in there while behind the VPN to see if your browser can view the images. If so, then it is a limitation of WMC.

I did the experiment.
In an updated Firefox web browser, opened C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\guideImages.xml and copied the selected the url for the grinch who stole christmas. Pasted the url address into another tab window.

In vpn mode(Windscribe): security issue posted (accepted security risk) then nothing - a dark screen
In non-vpn mode Verizon ip address : security issue posted (accepted security risk) and the "Grinch poster" posted.

Interesting. I dont know where to go from here, but interesting nonetheless. I'll try to duplicate this experiment and see if I see anything. What OS are you running?

I wasn't able to recreate on a Win7. Do you set your VPN for a specific country, or any other special configuration? I've never used Windscribe before.

Windscribe vpn is set to US East coast servers. They pick an available server.

I do use a pfsense router that has suricata, squid reverse proxy and ad blocking.
