Changing to OTA Antenna from Cable TV

#1

Post by davidhp » Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:56 pm

I finally decided to cut the cord and am cancelling my cable (COX) tv for streaming services and a roof top Antenna for my local channels. I know I will have to re run my WMC set up when I the Roof Antenna is connected to my tuner, what exactly do I have to do with the EPG 123 I have already been using?

I remember cutting the cord and moving to OTA; that was when I still had Rovi. It was seamless, with all my recordings continuing flawlessly. And then much later I moved to EPG123, and that was relatively painless as well.

That makes me think you might want to do this in stages: run setup completely and get the current Rovi guide stuff working as step 1, and then have a step 2 where you change that working setup over to EPG123 using the existing instructions.

Gary? Thoughts?

Since you already have EPG123 running, after you do your TV Setup tuner scan, open EPG123 and click the [Lineups] button to remove your current cable lineup and add your OTA lineup. Select the stations you want to download and then [Save & Execute].

If you don't use the Automatch option, you will need to open the client, select your OTA lineup, and click the Match by: [# Number] button.

That should be it. Your recording requests will still work as long as they are OTA as well.

Thanks sounds simple enough even for a tech dummy like me.
