Missing a few channels, even after replacing CableCard and TA

#1

I have an HDHomeRun Prime, and San Diego Spectum cable. Out of about 150 channels, 5 or more will not come in. The rest - including Copy Once channels - work perfectly.
Missing channels include:
FX Movie Channel (97)
FXX (98)
Sundance (625)
IFC (627)
TV Japan (1500)

At one time these all worked.
The cable guy come out. We confirmed the wires are good up the the tuning adapter. He plugged in a cable box, and all channels came in.
Today I swapped out the tuning adapter and cable card, which did not help.

When I do a Channel Scan from the HDHomeRun config screen, it fails to detect the channels.

From the log:

Do you have the tuning adapter connected via USB cable to the HDHR Prime's USB port?

The best way to connect the tuning adapter is to take the cable from the wall and put a 2-way splitter on it, then connect one output of the splitter to the Prime and the other output to the TA (do not connect them in serial as this reduces the signal strength too much)

I don't use a TA with my Prime, so I don't really have much experience with it, but if it is connected properly, I believe you should see some additional log entries regarding it in the Prime's log when you try to tune to an SDV channel.

Also, there is an information page on the Prime giving you the status of the TA (http://<IP_OF_PRIME>/tr.html on my Prime with older firmware). Make sure that the information there looks good (not sure what to look for, but it should tell you at the very least that there is a TA connected).

If they just added the SDV channels to your system recently, it is also possible that they just have not configured them correctly to work with the Prime. You may want to look at the www.tivocommunity.com forums for other Spectrum customers that are having issues with the TA, as they could likely have similar issues if this is the case.

For years, I had the USB connected to the PC. I just plugged it into the HDHR, and that solved my problem!

Thanks 10x for the enlightenment!

I'm guessing that the SDV channels never worked then, as I have never heard of attaching the TA to the PC when using the Prime. If you have a tuner that is internal to the PC (such as a Ceton card in a PCIE slot) then you would hook the TA to one of the PC's USB ports.

It's always interesting when replying to people's problems, as they usually leave a lot out about their setup, and you just have to assume they have gotten a certain number of things correct and work from there. I debated to include "making sure the TA is connected to the Prime", but I'm glad I did in this instance, as I figured there was a slight chance that it was not connected properly. Congrats and have fun!

Yeah, I had an internal Ceton prior to the HDHR.
The cable guy didn't catch it either (as expected though) when I confirmed the USB was hooked into the PC.

Thanks again!
