I do see an error in trace.log for every day since 4/29 (see log below). I'll monitor to see if it returns in the nightly update ... hopefully it won't if it was cache-related.

Also, thanks for such a great utility!

I'm a bit late to this party as I'm just now setting up EPG123, but I'm very happy with it so far. Ran into a couple minor issues during first time setup/config so I figured I'd share the workarounds I used.

Environment:
Recently rebuilt Windows 8.1 Media Center
2 x Ceton InfiniTV 6 eth (Only one configured currently due to troubleshooting a CATV signal/hardware issue. Both have been configured on this HTPC since the rebuild.)
Ceton drivers and diags utility. (No tuning adapter drivers.)
KODI v17.6
No other media center related add-ons/major customization post rebuild. I.e. No Tuner Salad, MCEBuddy, My Channel Logos, etc.
AutoAdmin logon enabled with a local admin account. (Standard User only permissions until prompted for elevation by UAC.)

First time EPG123 install/config. Began with working Media Center configured w/ 6 Ceton Tuners.

EPG123 v1.20 install went fine. I opted for an install path of c:\Program Files\epg123. (Long time enterprise desktop management/deployment practice to never install apps to the root [or a direct child] of C.)

Issue 1 - Getting more than 4 Ceton tuners detected during Client Setup Step 2.
- Initially Selected YES to the increase tuner limit question but only 4 tuners would show up during Step 2.
- Selected NO to the increase tuner limit question but only 4 tuners would show up during Step 2.
- Tried various combinations of the YES/NO tuner limit override along with Ceton Diags > Clear Tuner Config + Rediscover Tuners prior to repeating step 1.
- Found this thread concerning similar issues: Ceton 6 Tuner setup
- Tried the "C:\Program Files\Ceton\Ceton InfiniTV\InfiniTVSvc.exe" /tweakmediacenter suggestion but still only 4 tuners detected during MC TV Setup. (This may work for someone directly after step 1 when no other troubleshooting/config was performed prior.)
- Ended up getting all 6 Ceton tuners detected/working via: EPG123 Client Setup > Step 1 "Clean Start" > Ceton Diags - Clear Tuner Config + Rediscover Tuners > Step 2 "TV Setup" > Step 3 "Configure". (Answered NO to the increase tuner tuner limit question. Also I believe this pass of EPG123 Client Setup was "run as Admin" for troubleshooting.)

Issue 2 - DB Utilities > Backup permissions:
- Win 8.1 w/ UAC enabled. EPG123 installed to C:\Program Files\EPG123
- Database Utilities > Backup Button Does not have a UAC badge like the Restore and Rebuild WMC DB buttons. This lead to a permissions related unhandled exception error when trying to run a backup.
- Easy work around of launching Client Config as an Admin, but something worth tweaking in a future rev. (This is related to the default (read/write/execute only) permissions for "users" inherited to folders created under C:\Program Files\

Other notes:
After completing the channel line up config and testing the 6 tuner option I went back in and played with the Tweak MC/Guide enhancements.

I'd like to mention that I really liked the Guide Customization GUI. While it's been a while since I've been in the GUI of the other 3rd party guide enhancers, this one seemed well thought out and very functional. Having the various related settings change visually when making adjustments works well and significantly reduces the learning curve of trying to set these independently.

Some of my current guide settings: (65" UHD TV in 4k mode... so the default Guide format and layout was showing MCE's age.)
Guide Cell Font Size: 22 > 14
Guide Row Height: >> 1.83x (Modified automatically while trying various other settings.)
Channel Logo Size: Small > Medium (to correct Channel Letters being partially cut off with these font/size options.)
Primary Guide Rows 7 > 14
Guide Time Span >> 210
Channel Column Width >> Auto Adjust
Of course these will change slightly over time and are partially dependent on WAF.

Thanks Garyan2 for the excellent work on EPG123!

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback. Unfortunately, I have not designed EPG123 to exist in the Program Files folders and so you are going to have permission problems... i.e., it is not going to successfully perform updates from a 'Save&Execute' run or 'Save' the configuration file since it won't be able to write to the folder. It also won't be able to write to the trace.log file unless you run elevated. The Scheduled Task should run since it runs with "highest priveleges."

I'm not sure why you had to rediscover tuners here ... based on experiences I heard in the past it shouldn't have been necessary. I'll see what I can discover but it will probably prove difficult since I don't have any Ceton tuners to experiment with.

I only used the UAC buttons for actions that required a Registy change or a need to start/stop a service. I expected EPG123 to always have the ability to write to the epg123 folder. Again, this is due to not designing for the Program Files folders and subsequently the ProgramData folder.

Thanks very much. I am actually pretty proud of how that turned out myself. The development of my algorithm made changing the geometry of the guide very dynamic and I worked on it till it met my standards. The other 3rd party guide enhancers didn't get anywhere close to what EPG123 gives.

For the past 2 days I see the following error:

[7/12/2018 3:22:04 AM] [ERROR] The expected number of stations to download is 197 but there are only 159 stations available from Schedules Direct. Aborting update for review by user.
[7/12/2018 3:22:04 AM] [ERROR] Failed to create MXF file. Exiting.
[7/12/2018 3:22:04 AM] [ INFO] epg123 update execution time was 00:00:02.6591521.

Is there something I need to do or will this problem resolve itself?

Looks like 38 stations have disappeared from the lineup(s) provided by Schedules Direct. This abort is to protect your guide from losing those 38 stations as well while you have a chance to determine what the problem is. It could be that the 38 stations are missing from a lineup, or if you have multiple lineups then one of them may have been renamed and the lineup is no longer valid.

Unfortunately I don't have anything in EPG123 to help determine what is wrong, it is going to have to be manual on your part. Open EPG123 configuration GUI and look at your lineups and try to determine where the stations are missing from. Once you find anything out, and it is a problem with the lineups from SD, then submit a ticket with them and describe it as best you can.

WARNING: Do not click the [Save] or [Save & Execute] button. This will reset the expected tuner count to whatever is being shown and selected in the configuration GUI, which is missing the 38 stations. If this happens, then the update will now succeed and those 38 stations will disappear from you guide.

Thank you! It appears to be an SD issue and just submitted a ticket. I am hoping they can resolve the issue.

Gary,
Last night I lost Cablevision Digital lineup channels. All (except one) in the 700 range. That's where all of the HD channels are.
Here's the response I got from SD.

"Not true - Cablevision told out upstream to create a new "-F" lineup in your zip code; if you use that instead of the -X then that's where you'll find your 700's."

Any idea what this means?

Open the EPG123 Configuration GUI and click the [Lineups] button to add a new lineup, but first delete your current lineup. Search your zip code and look for your Cablevision Digital lineups. If you hover the mouse over the lineup in the search results, you will see the lineup ID... look for the -F lineup. You can right-click it to preview the channels in the lineup. If you can't find the -F lineup, cancel the lineup changes so it doesn't actually remove your current lineup. What zip code are you using?

It sounds like your current lineup is either being retired or re-purposed to be a different digital cable.

Gary,
My zip is 08854. Yes, I have the channels back in the lineup. Thanks
It seems like I need to wait overnight for a full guide update. It's set for 3am and greyed out. That's ok if true. I set up a couple of wmc manual recordings, like Tour de France and Wimbledon finals.

Just FYI: You can do a [Save & Execute] from the GUI to force an update ... you don't have to wait until the scheduled update.

I did that but the wmc guide is still missing data. If I do a guide data update from within wmc it just terminates quickly and says ok, but still no data

Open the client, select the new lineup with the 700's on the right pull-down, and click the Match by: [# Number] button.

Sorry, should have realized that when the channels disappeared, they were unsubscribed from the guide channel. You need to make that association again.

EDIT: If you had automatically match (automatch) enabled, you would have seen instant results after the update.

The left side shows old source with Custom labels every time I run the client. Right side empty after a reboot, and no lineup to select in the right side

EPG123 Client Guide Tool, right?

I'll look at it.
The EPG123 program where I selected the new lineup seems ok but that lineup is not showing up in the client.
I'm on a smartphone here. Should I send the log somehow?

Right side panel is now populated. I didn't do anything new. In WMC all my channels are gone but I think that's from me unsubscribing them in the left panel where the scanned sources column still shows the old lineup

You should see both the old and the new lineups on the right side. If you are using v1.2.1, then you are able to actually delete the old lineup (right side 'X' to the right of the lineup pulldown). This will unsubscribe your old lineup from all the channels on the left side before deleting it. You can the subscribe all your channels to the new lineup.

Note: In this case, there is no issue with having both the old and the new lineup on the right-side and/or the left-side. All the stations and channels are the same except one lineup has more stations. But to clean everything up nice and pretty, doing the above will get everything back in line.

Gary,
Thanks a bunch. Burned out tonight. I'm gonna let this thing rest as-is overnight. See what I have in the morning
I will follow the steps you've just outlined then.
Thanks,

Gary,
No good. The right side is no blank and the left side still shows only the old names lilineup.
Question. Why the two separate GUIs; EPG123 configurator and Client Guide tool?
In the first one it shows that the 3am update f
Failed last night. Otherwise, the lineup in there looks good. The 3am log entries seem ok to me.
