Assign Tuner to Guide Listings

#1

Post by spmnemrc » Sat Dec 02, 2017 2:50 pm

Gary

I have three different tuners. Sat, SD Cablecard, and SD OTA. The lineups have many of the same stations on different channels where some are active on some tuners and not active on others. The guide listings in EPG123Client (left side last column) do not get it right (all the time). How can I tweak these?

Some ideas running thru my head. Maybe a tuner(s) can be associated with a lineup from SD in epg123.exe?

I'm already on it... you'll have to wait for next release which keeps getting bigger and bigger. A quick look at the what the new client will do is below. You'll now be able to filter by tuners on the left side and your EPG123 lineups will be separated for individual selection on the right. This way, you can very quickly assign lineup stations to tuner channels. Just select the tuner group on the left, select the lineup on the right, and click the Match by: [# Number] button. Rinse & Repeat for each tuner/lineup combo.

With your particular setup, you still won't be able to do the 'Automatch' since I'm not actually assigning a lineup to a particular tuner... but this may a step towards that goal.

Thanks that make sense. I assume I have to manually clean what tuners are assigned to WMC channels (if it assigned multiple tuners to 1 channel), and that could be made easier if I delete groups of unused channels in epg123client.exe?

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing here, which is my fault. I reread you initial post and you were pointing out that the last column (Scanned Source(s)) was not always correct, I would argue that is always correct. The left side of the client are your "merged" channels... It is a merged channel because it can have multiple lineup sources, multiple tuner groups, and multiple tuners. If you merge an OTA channel with a cable channel, then the Scanned Source(s) column should say "Digital Antenna (ATSC) + Digital Cable).

Another way to look at is if you go into Edit Channels in WMC and look at the sources, they should belong in the group identified in the Scanned Source(s) column. Caveat: there are some other programs out there that don't attempt to preserve the scanned sources in the merged channel so in that case the client could be missing some sources.

Could you post a snapshot of what you are seeing and what is wrong?

I have some merges (that WMC made) that just make no sense, however there are also "unmerged" versions of the channels for those tuners. So for now big deal, I will get by. Splitting the sources had no affect on the epg123client.exe left side right most scanned source column.

Did you do a clean start? I know if MS/Rovi sets things up there can be those "automatic" WTH merges because they are the same station. Actually, one will be the backup for the other.

I did clean start (ehome) two weeks ago when I installed a new tuner.
Your system works great thank you!
