WMC does not work with MAX-STREAM AC 1750 Linksys router
Hello,
My WMC setup (Win7 PC + HDHomerun Prime + 3 XBox360 extenders) worked fine with my Verizon FIOS Actiontec router.
Recently, I bought a new MAX-STREAM AC 1750 Linksys router. After installing the new router, WMC stopped working.
I tried to run WMC setup again but the setup was not successful. WMC can see the tuners but cannot detect TV signal. The setup process stops at "Examine your TV signal". The HDHomerun apps on Windows and on my Android phones can pull the TV signal fine. I can view the non-premium channels fine using the apps.
If I put back the old router, WMC works again. So it must be the settings in the new routers.
I tried to enable multicast (unchecked/checked the "Filter Multicast" option in Security), but that did not help.
I even tried to uncheck all the options in Security, but that did not help either.
Can someone please tell me what options I have to turn on or off in the router to make WMC works.
Thanks.

That's weird. I would start with the following:
1. Make sure the firmware on the router is up to date
2. Try a different port on the router. If the tuner and WMC PC is on ports 1&2, use ports 3&4
3. Disable the Windows Firewall

Make sure Windows thinks your network type is "Home" IIRC when you change routers it reverts to "Public" and then it won't find your tuners.

Tried these suggestions, but still not working.

Put in a cheap gig switch and connect it to the router then connect the Prime, PC and extenders to that. Should allow them to communicate without any interference from the router.
e.g. one like this: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-5-Port-G ... ch+gigabit

It turns out that it is Norton Firewall that causes the problem.
I had to set the network connection to "Full Trust" for WMC to work (image below is just an example). Initially, it was set to "Private".

I am not sure why it worked before with my old router. Maybe Norton had different settings for the old router.
Is there any security issue if my network connection setting is set to "Full Trust"?
Thanks.

Actually, disable the firewall works. I dont know why it did not work the first time.junks2010 wrote:Thanks.Scallica wrote:That's weird. I would start with the following:
