How to update to newest version?

#1

I have epg123 up and running. Not sure what update to new version requires. Clean install or just overwrite exe?

Thanks

Just run the installer to copy over the existing binaries. Don't need to uninstall or perform any special tasks.

For someone like me who is running the portable version (1.1.0) would the process to upgrade to the latest version be to extract the contents of the portable zip into the existing directory, overwriting all existing files that match files from the new zip?

Yes. Or you can run the installer and "install" it in the same location.

With Version 1.1.11 and up this is no longer true, right?

Still true. Why do you think it is not? Where did I lose the message?

What I didn't mention was if you are Win7 and wish to use the transfer tool, you will have to manually delete the Newtonsoft.json.dll file. V1.1.0 has been around a while so I figure that was not the case.

Okay. So you can still have json.dll in the epg123 directory so long as you're not converting the series database from Rovi to Schedules Direct but if you are then you need to use the installer or delete jason.dll from the epg123 directory if you are doing the conversion. This is what I understood. The last few times I updated I used the installer as it seems to take care of everything for you.

Ok, I've updated to the latest version .13
But still when I go to WMC Guide info it still shows .11 (.13 available)
Not sure if the update worked or not?

That information will stay there until your next update using v1.1.13.

I meant your next scheduled guide update. That information is part of the mxf file that is imported into the database.
