Question about WMC guide update

#1

Post by KarterJK » Sun Jul 09, 2017 12:53 pm

EPG123 is great, no problems what so ever..

My question has to do with when the guide updates. I edit my channels and remove any that are unnecessary (example 700, 701). It used to be that when Windows updated the guide it put those channels back in, making me have to edit them again. Using EPG123, will that resolve that issue? or will I have to edit them again? Or is there something else I am missing about WMC?

That was one of my favorite side-effects of installing epg123 - you should no longer be bothered with editing the channels in WMC (I don't have the box checked for automatically download new stations in lineups). That was one of my most hated pet peeves with the ROVI data, I'd keep getting random channels activated and then WMC would try to record on a channel I didn't have which would totally lock up my satellite box (if my dish box is changed to a channel that's not available I have to manually use the up or down button on the remote it get out of the message, if I try to directly enter a new channel, like WMC would do, it goes to a dish help section).

Here are some rules concerning this question.
  • If the station is not selected for download (EPG123 GUI) then it will not be available in the guide.
  • If the channel is disabled in the guide, EPG123 respects that and leaves it disabled.
  • If you delete the tuner channel, EPG123 does not add tuner channels and it will remain deleted.
  • If both automatch and autoadd are selected, new stations will be added to the guide and channel enabled.
Note that if a station moves from one channel to another, the now empty channel will be disabled. The new channel will be empty and disabled as well unless automatch is selected. This also means that a previously disabled channel that moves to another channel will be re-enabled if automatch is selected.
