Guide Tool and EPG123

#1

Post by DanITman » Sat Jun 24, 2017 4:48 pm

Is it possible to use the Guide Tool with EPG123. I just converted and I want to move all my channels back to how I had them.

Looks like I might need Guide Tool 1.4 and I can't find a download link.

Thanks

With EPG123, it is not necessary to use Guide Tool 1.4. Version 1.2.5 will work just fine if you have it.

Answer is yes, Guide Tool will work with EPG123 ... BUT ... there have been reports that Guide Tool has shown no lineups at all. Typically with a clean start, it works just fine.

I got the "no lineup" error so I was searching for 1.4

I know v1.2.4 will not work, so are you using 1.2.5?

Hi garyan2. Would you mind sending me the links to Guide Tool 1.2.5. I'm loving EPG123 (thank you!), but I'm not looking forward to manually updating my channel lineup. Thanks!

Before we go hog crazy with Guide Tool, let me try to get in touch with the authors concerning its future. It's been quite a while since the website went dark, but not sure if we can call it abandonware just yet.

I have reached out to the authors of Guide Tool and have not gotten a response... SO ...

I have added links to version 1.2.5 and 1.4 on the right side of my Download page under "Useful Programs". Note, since they are dark, and it is impossible to activate the program any more, I would say it is limited in functionality and abandonware.

Update: shortly after I posted the above, fredx21 did contact me in response to my queries but has not responded yet. Though I have already put the files on my site, I would really like to see if we can get a version that is unlocked since it is now impossible to activate the software now.

Not since he asked me to contact him directly on a personal email. I'll ping him again.

Fred's a great guy, but damn I guess he's busy. I use the 1geektool DVBlink / colossus tool - Really wish there was some other way to recognize and control 4 'tuners' that are just 'hdpvr/colossus' cards recording from dish boxes. But I guess the dvblink stuff is doing my channel changes, so, hey... Glad to have paid for it in the past though!
