New User Error

#1

Post by DanITman » Sat Jun 24, 2017 3:55 pm

Just getting started with epg123 and every time I run the client software I get a .net frame work error. I plan to convert to epg123 this weekend. Thanks

Here is the error:

Passed Lineup does not have a WMIS Uld with its headend Id. Parameter name: lineup

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'm going to try and recreate your issue, but just a quick question. Did you perhaps try to import the guide listings before you had your tuners set up? If so, your database is corrupted and you will have to perform Step 1 again.

EDIT: Did recreate by doing the above ... get a whole lot of errors.

I fixed this issue right after I posted this. Isn't that how it always goes :). I was reading the guide and I missed the part where it says to continue to the setup in WMC. I thought I had to close WMC right after you decline the guide data from MS. I didn't follow directions well enough.

Here is how I fixed it. Started over in safe mode to get the eHome folder deleted. Started back up normally and ehome was recreated and it still wouldn't delete. There is a process from ceton that you need to disable called CDataSvc.exe and then you can continue with the setup.

Looks like I'm back on track now. I'll let you know if I can't get something else working.

I haven't tried to gather all the possible services that can hook into the database and prevent Step 1 from completing. Your method of getting back on track was correct except when you booted back into Normal Mode, it was not necessary to run Step 1 again, going directly to Step 2 would be fine. This was my bad and I'll be changing my prompt from:

"Please reboot into Normal Mode and start 'Step 1' again." to "Please reboot into Normal Mode and proceed with 'Step 2'."

I also just put in a safeguard against importing guide listings when there are no tuners configured. So thank you for reporting the issue! Your experience just made epg123 just a bit better. :thumbup:
