Sounds like your driver got knocked out. Increase Tuner limit was built in to the Ceton Drivers. You can also get the same thing from Tuner Salad.

Any Windows Updates lately?

If you want to find out who sucker punched you, You could use WinDiff or WinMerge to compare the Ceton Tuner Section in the registry before and after the update or the re-install of the driver. You could alternatively use TotalUninstaller to record the changes made during the uninstall of each update. The easy way (of course) is to run TU and record the changes during the Ceton Driver adjustments you made.

"Anyway Total Uninstaller can be used to have a list (and a backup) of the replaced files and registry settings.

Start from a working W7, install total uninstaller, start monitoring an installation, and install the update.

Let the update finish (a reboot is surely needed), close the total uninstaller monitoring, then save the backup.

Rollback the installation using the official methods, and test the WMC again (it should work again)

Then open the TU backup with 7zip and patiently start to replace back the updated files, (one by one or in small groups) until you will find what breaks WMC tuner limit."

Update: Just lost all tuners in WMC. Re-ran already installed, "ceton_infinitv_setup_w7_sp1_13_06_03_1088.exe" and selected "repair" option. Fixed! :)

I bet that the problem is just that my old 80GB WDC HDD (Boot drive) is failing. And as a result, the Ceton drivers get screwed up over time. I've got a replacement ready to go. (not as old old 250GB WDC) I'll try it whenever. As long as Ceton drivers last 3 to 4 weeks before they fail again it's cool. :)

Got any links to some of your backup suggestions you wrote in the past?

Bee_Dee_3_Dee wrote:i just fixed Win7 WMC only allowing 4 Tuners with my Ceton InfiniTV 6 Ethernet, by doing the following after all else on this thread failed to fix it (but did inspired me ;) :

1. Re-ran already installed, "ceton_infinitv_setup_w7_sp1_13_06_03_1088.exe"
2. Selected "repair" option
3. Opened Ceton Diagnostics program
4. Clicked on Devices Tab
5. Clicked on "Discover Tuners" button (Note: did not click on "Reset Network" or "Clear Tuner" buttons.)
6. Opened WMC and 6 Tuners were detected. :)

ty again tgb!

Edit: i should have started out that all six tuners worked initially for several weeks and idk why WMC all of a sudden would only allow 4.
i just had to repeat ^^.

Because... my internet/ TV went out.
so i called my ISP and they said a node was out.
they fixed it in 28 minuets and internet/ TV was bak!

but, my TV signal failed/ lost/ none withing 10 minuets. (Internet still worked.)

called my ISP/ cable company and tried every combination of power cycling devices and sending signals.
Then i remembered, wait! didn't i have a similar problem several weeks ago? :D

Yes, TGB to the rescue!!!! the above recipe fixed wat 7 telephone techs could not. (not that fixing it (wmc) was their responsibility.)
