Certainly outside the scope of EPG123. Any/All of those suggestions I would categorize as a new project and not related to epg123.IT Troll wrote:That doesn't sound like guide data to me. I believe where I went wrong here is my question is too broad. The question is actually "What to add next to EPG123?" That is what I am asking opinions on.

merge channels from different lineups.
For example I have an off air lineup for my rooftop antenna, Ch 5.1, 8.1, 8.2...... and a cable card lineup for my cable company 1005, 1008,..... I would like to see a way to merge 5.1 to 1005 in epg123 instead of having to do it in windows media center.
Is this possible or does it have to be done in media center?

Guide tool does merging IIR so it should be able to do in epg123.

Yes, I could add this to the epg123Client to manually merge channels. There are a couple more abilities I want to add to the client, but I didn't necessarily want to try and duplicate/replace GuideTool.Sammy2 wrote:Guide tool does merging IIR so it should be able to do in epg123.
That being said, I will be adding more capability since it appears difficult to even visit the 1geek1tool website.

I was trying to help the other poster out here. I thought it already did this in the latest versions. No need to duplicate GuideTool much but having it all in one app has advantages as well as disadvantages because the more you try to do with epg123, the more areas for problems to manifest themselves.

Here's a suggestion: The ability to indicate in which format you want the .WTV files to look like (i.e. Show Name - Episode Name.wtv)

I have been putting off cutting over because time to rebuild my series recordings. Import from WMC would be great.

You may know this, but this just requires creating/changing an entry in the registry.choliscott wrote:Here's a suggestion: The ability to indicate in which format you want the .WTV files to look like (i.e. Show Name - Episode Name.wtv)

I've thought about building a tool that would require both epg123 and Rovi exist in WMC at the same time. With both present, I can match a Gracenote station with a Rovi station and compare the listings. This way I could correlate the series unique ID by MS/Rovi with the unique ID by Gracenote. That information would then be used to modify the backup recording file that can be imported after the transition. My favored plan is to simply have a machine with DISH and DirecTV lineups for Rovi and epg123 to generate a translation file that would contain every series on every station in the 2 lineups for the next 3 weeks. This database could continue to grow as time progresses to be more complete.chrisdfw wrote:I have been putting off cutting over because time to rebuild my series recordings. Much easier to say than do, and don't know when I'll have the bandwidth to work on it.

Wow, over a 1000 users, great! I am planning on posting my scripts/event log triggers that e-mail me when a guide update failure happens, sometime in the near future. Thought others may find them useful rather than having to obsessively check the guide update results all the time;-) (been occupied with upgrading my HTPC's OTA tuners to quad units lately and haven't gotten all my ducks in a row yet on doing that) Would be nice if EPG123 would have a user interface to set up such a notification rather than the fairly manual procedure I will post.

It does not have to be 100%. I would think there could be a way to just do a automated search in the new database for the name and add it.

I have an idea. On the EPG123 GUI, in the scheduled task section, it says Last run time and also how it exited but it gives the 0x00000 code which means it worked.
Maybe change that so when the scheduled task completes with 0x0000000 (bla, bla, bla) you just display in the GUI as "okey-dokey" or Success, or whatever. What I'm getting at is the average boob is not going to know 0x000000000000000000000000 = OK
Also, in the Links section maybe add the Green Button?
Just thoughts.....

I can certainly do that for the 0x00000000 code, but I don't want to create a lookup table for all possible codes to translate into something human readable. Also, and unfortunately, the exit code is not for epg123 or the client, it is for the task itself.
Meaning: epg123 could have failed miserably to update WMC, but if the task started epg123 without issue, then it was successful with an exit code of 0x00000000.

Exactly (I figured that it was the exit code for the task and not EPG itself). But I used to always go into task scheduler and look to see what the exit code was. The way that I remember that 0x00000000000 is good is because all the other tasks there have it. The only two I've seen is 0x00000000000 and some xFFFFF or something. Don't know what the F that one meant
But my point, which you got, was that if the result code was 0x00000000 then you could say something like task was successful or what have you. It would just be easier for the average joe

Yah, got it.
0xFFFFFFFF is really -1. I'm fairly sure it is still convention to use negative number to represent an error, while positive non-zero numbers reflect some other information. Since I'm not a software guy, I wouldn't know.

For someone that's not a software guy, EPG is pretty darn cool. And I got to tell you, that manual is gorgeous and your website is also very well done. It's a very comprehensive solution (even with my limited understanding I can tell). To be honest, I don't think I've had a guide issue ever since adding the -f (?) switch to the task so that it loads the new data regarless of whether MC is running or not.

Gary, is it possible to get EPG123 into DVBLink Server, and or Kodi?

To get epg123 in DVBLink Server, I believe it would have to be a XMLTV file. This is certainly possible to have epg123 create the file.Crash2009 wrote:Gary, is it possible to get EPG123 into DVBLink Server, and or Kodi?
As far as getting it into Kodi, you can use DVBLink (with the XMLTV import) or pvr.wmc (ServerWMC) as the backend.
