No data after EPG123

I have been struggling to get this to work but have hit snags.

I know this step doesn't matter but installed the EPG123 directory in C:\.
I rebooted into safe mode, ran it as admin and hit Clean Install.
Rebooted and opened WMC.
Reran Digital Cable Advisor.
When I clicked TV Setup I got a popup that said "A tuner is not detected...". I had the same thing happen on a different computer. So I just closed WMC up and rebooted again.
This time TV Setup open and completed as expected.
Closed WMC and ran EPG123 as admin
Logged in made all selections except Automatch
EPG123 completes successfully and closes
Open WMC, No Data at all.
Reboot, same.

Oh, I also disabled my security software and re-ran EPG123. No joy.

You did check the box above your channel lineup that says "ALL?" I missed that the first time along with setting a refresh time at the bottom and ended up with no data.

Yes, All the information has been downloaded properly. Just not recognized by WMC.

And why didn't you check AUTOMATCH?

Do you really want Guide data for ALL channels? Or would a subset be more appropriate for your usage?

Do you have your WMC channels checked for the channel-subset you want, or even ALL channels? Or do you have no channels yet checked in WMC?

Just for comparison, here's my own log from last night's update. I DO have AUTOMATCH checked, and I only have 82 channels checked (out of over 800 offered by TWC/LA).

For initial runs, if automatch is not selected then there will be nothing in the guide. You must either run "epgClient.exe -match", or make the match manually by editing the channel listings in WMC.

Thanks. I am grateful for your work and for this alternative but please take the following criticism as constructive.

Like a lot of people, I typically do not read instructions thoroughly and cover to cover. I look for the high points to get up and running as quickly as possible. I didn't tic it because I noticed in a section early on in the text in bold letters that said not to set it under certain conditions. I opted not to not realizing that this did not apply to initial setup and because I was reading your setup guide as step by step. The initial runs item is much further down in the contents and almost an afterthought and I glossed over it. It really should be specified in the initial setup steps.

Believe me, this is something I am grossly aware of.

I think I'm going to start working on adding captions to objects in the GUI that will pop-up when hovering that describe what that particular object does, and just strip out a lot of the guide material. I can't set defaults that will work for everyone and I can't force everyone to read the guide.

Basically, I can't force everyone to be successful, I can only provide the user the tools to get them there.

EPG123 has great documentation; compared to many other free and even paid for software. It is a real shame that people don't take the time to read it before diving in.

Perhaps a single page right at the front titled "READ ME FIRST". Which then has a simple bullet list of all the common pitfalls and frequent questions with page references for more info.

BTW I did have to reboot all 3 of my computers to clear the "A Tuner is not detected.." in WMC TV Setup. Don't know why but it was a consistent hitch.

Um, er, I think that would be "Signup for Schedules Direct" but don't choose your lineup there, choose your lineup in the epg123 gui (which is a bit limited compared to the sd webpage for legacy xml).
