Thoughts on JRiver Media Centre?

#1

Post by dmoors » Fri Sep 09, 2016 7:28 pm

Has anyone experience of JRiver Media Centre? How does it compare to to WMC? Are there any issues with EPG?
I installed it on a Windows 10 virtual machine just to see the UI and functionality, but of course it is non-functional in a VM. Looking for a supported alternative to WMC that would enable me to upgrade my W7 media PC to Windows 10. Looked at Kodi and Media Portal but didn't install as first impression was free but flakey, maybe ok for techies looking for a challenge :-)

What sort of DRM issues (if any) will you have. That is probably the #1 reason you can't really replace WMC.

Not considered DRM aspect. Guess I'll install JRiver on 30 day trial in Windows 7 and find out.
Strangely, the EPG in WMC has now started working today, without me touching it.
Would be used most for watching live TV via the PC, as the TV itself doesn't have Freeview HD tuner although it's an HD TV.
