It sounds like you have narrowed it down to the TV itself. But, in case there's still any doubt. . . I found similar behavior on my Panasonic VT50 plasma. But I chalked it up to the Media Center coming out of sleep and (for some reason) overriding the dynamic range setting until the next reboot (or, as I found later, the next MCE restart).

Once rebooted, it would honor the nvidia control panel dynamic range setting again. It never occurred to me that the source of this behavior was actually the TV.

I worked around the problem by having Media Center (eHome) restart itself upon waking from sleep. This was accomplished via the MCE Standby Tool (http://slicksolutions.eu/).

Again, may not apply to your situation. We might be talking about two different things. But it also might be a different angle on the same issue. =)

Does your MCE box ever enter S3 sleep?

Nope, I never let my HTPC sleep.
