Switched video cards

#1

Post by wgolfguy » Wed Dec 16, 2015 4:03 am

I upgraded to Nvidia gtx 960 from a amd Radeon 6790. Now I am having copy protection issues. " recording canceled <show title here> cannot be recorded. Restrictions set by broadcaster and/or originator of the content prohibit recording of this program". Anybody ever seen this issue before. I looked through 24 pages on the forum can't look no more.

Try looking up Reset DRM and/or Re-install PlayReady.

Also, you might need to run Digital Cable Advisor (DCA) after upgrading the video card. Its up in the Extras section of WMC.

Yeah no luck did everything you suggested and I still can't record 80% of my tv shows. Sigh.

Could be a lot of different things. You seem to think it has something to do with the VideoCard which it likely does. Scrape off the Nvidia, Scrape off the Radeon, Freshen the OS, Install Nvidia.

I don't think a bandaid is going to fix this one.

Yeah I did a fresh OS install with the Nvidia card. Nothing but issues. My original build was with an Nvidia card and I slightly remember having issues years ago with that. I am now doing a fresh install of OS with old video card and everything seems like it's back to normal. Sigh. Off to buy a new amd card I guess. Nothing else seems to work. Thanks for the help guys.

In that case I would look into chipset/model of motherboard and any reports of problems mixing with Nvidia. Strange one though.

That or your Nvidia card is faulty.

What motherboard are you using?

Open up Ceton Diagnostics and tell us how many red x's you got. I think there are 4 or 5 tabs, Screen Cap would be nice.

What error do you get when you try to record?

Yeah I got everything fixed. Seemed to be that Verizon updated their system. Added flags to their cable tv channels. Ceton Corp is the ones who caught it. However I called Verizon and they blatantly lied to me telling me they don't use flags. I called them out on it. Asked them why do I have a report from a vendor that tells me every style of flag on my system? Losers! Ceton Corp has a beta firmware that fixed the issue for me. All is right in the word again. More in detail if anyone wants to get into it hit me up. Thanks for the help.

Oh and that's the bitch I wasn't having any connection issues. All green check marks. It was a stumper.
