Updated betas for download. Minor tweak to the XMLTV to add channel number and channel logo. With the channel numbers included, emby will be able to automatically map the channels to your tuners. The channel logo may or may not work for you ... it is pointing to the logo in the epg123\logos folder so if epg123 is not being run on the same machine as your xmltv consumer, it won't find the logo and will display nothing.

Believe me when I say... I'm VERY familiar with this phenomenon and can assure you this did not occur. If it had, I would've known how to handle it. Hence the freakiness and weirdness.
garyan2 wrote:So, my suggestion for your current recordings and future recordings is to use the Transfer Tool.
1. Select all recordings on the right side and right-click -> Cancel. This will cancel all your current scheduled recordings.
2. Click the [Open recordings backup file] and navigate to the backup zip file you created right after you downloaded the BETA.
3. Click the [>>>] button.
4. Open WMC and check your scheduled recordings ... everything should be back.
My oh my... I am literally "Laughing out LOUD"... because I'm right back to here.

Thank goodness I have a robust sextuple redundant (nationwide) homegrown backup system! I'm calling this finished and going back a few weeks and will start from there! As a guy once told me... The best time to fix something is when it's broken!

Sorry to put you through this mess! Please enjoy the rest of your week and weekend!

EDIT: I backup "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mcepg*.*\backup\" every night so I used the Transfer Tool to restore one of those from the beginning of the month and that did the trick! Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Could you send me a copy of the before (\backup\recordings\yyyyMMddHHmmss) and the backup.zip file you created? I may not need to see them for the tuner example, but would definitely like to see what changed in the recordings to make it no longer work for you.

Very interesting.

Didn't learn a darned thing. I compared the before and after recordings backup file and other than changes you would expect ... adding some one time recordings, one time recordings that have completed, some series that had their short and long text descriptions change, and series recordings added. Otherwise no difference between the two.

I then restored your backup onto my machine and 'lo and behold ... everything worked just fine. I've deleted channels, added channels, updated guide listings ... no change. I think the only thing left is something about your database.

BTW: you got something funny going on with your 4.x channels. You have some strange merges going on there that I'm not sure were intentional.

At this point I'm not convinced it has anything to do with EPG123. It's just a strange coincidence... However, I am convinced that 41 and its subchannels are somehow responsible for this WMC glitch.

In my area it seems like they've been adding new stations (and moving existing stations to new channels) quite a bit over the past year. I know they announced recently that they were going to make my area a testing ground for rolling out ATSC 3.0, so maybe that has something to do with all this OTA movement?

Would using the "Rebuild WMC Database" function and then restoring my mcepg2-1 recording backup get rid of the anomalies that you observed?

The "Rebuild WMC Database" function will restore both your tuner lineups, channel configurations, and scheduled recordings. What you will lose is your recording history which means if you record New&Repeat on a series, you are starting from scratch and will record episodes you have already recorded in the past. What you will also lose is those past series recordings may no longer have extended information that is in the guide, but not in the metadata.

It will not get rid of the anomalies with your channel setups/merges. That will be restored along with everything else.

Give it a go and see what happens. Of course, probably a good idea to make a backup first.

It's not really affecting me, so I'll probably let sleeping dogs lie until I really have to do something. It's more of a curiosity than an annoyance.

Side note... I use RecordedTVHD so the series/episode data is managed by that.

Gary,

Wish I could help out but my system is the daily driver for the family and hiccups are not welcomed.. LOL.

Is there a way to test without messing up my existing epg beyond what I'm already trying to fix?

Thanks!
