Comcast HD Channel Move Causing Guide Problems

#1

Post by slaingod » Mon Dec 11, 2017 4:26 am

So last Thursday, Comcast (Nashville) decided to renumber a bunch of the HD channels in the middle of primetime. It took about a day for SchedulesDirect to catch up and remap the channels. However I am having a few lingering issues, and I am hoping someone help me figure them out with risking losing all my (wife's) scheduled series, like happened when I switched to EPG123 in the first place...

My issue is that about a half-dozen channels are showing up as duplicates in the WMC guide, with the wrong channel/guide data. So for instance I have two MTV channels, but one of them is actually AMC. Trying to figure out what needs to happen to fix that.

In my trace.log, there were a bunch of unmatching and then matching for most of the channels when the big transition was detected, but like AMCHD is listed as unmatched and was never matched. I've tried looking through the forums and the PDF guide, but it isn't necessarily clear what I need to do to fix it, without taking risks.

Do I probably just need to do a 'rebuild' of my database? Can someone confirm that I won't lose my scheduled series if I do so? Or is there a manual fix, and if so what is it? Thanks in advance!

A quick way to "redo" the matching is to use the client. On the left side, click any channel to highlight, key {Ctrl + A} to select all, right-click left side channels and select "Unsubscribe". Then with the EPG123 Lineups on the right, click the Automatch by: [# Number].

The unsubscribe should clean up your duplicates, and the match will make everything right.

Hadn't seen the client before, the normal installation instructions I had seen in the past only referred to it in the context of whole home configuration, so thought it was just some CLI client that the GUI interacted with. Thanks for pointing it out.Think I have it all working now.

That was true up until v1.1.0 release in February. The role of the client executable has expanded quite a bit. Actually, you could say that epg123.exe is strictly the creation of the guide listings mxf file. The client is everything dealing with WMC on the htpc machine.
